I'm in Camden, Maine. Just took a 3 hour tour on a boat that looked like The Minnow with 7 other people, including my professor wife. I remarked on this to one of the passengers who said she's no Ginger to which I replied, "Oops, All Gilligans". No laugh.

My radio show (like the Three Stooges!) was a bit polarizing. Some hated it, some loved it. My defenders would often say, "It's not for everyone." But I confess, I did want it to appeal to everyone; I just could never figure out what people like or need!

Also thinking about giving classes at my home where you come once a week and I teach you how to say, "I don't know" with conviction.

Also, if you must write a novel, you need to do that with a pen. No typing--that's how we got to where we are now!

I feel like having kids and writing poetry are probably both bad for the world, so I apologize. I did however only have two kids (who are very sweet, kind people) and I don't publish, so there's that.

I can sit by myself looking at a tree for an hour and feel fine. I spend 5 minutes on line and I feel a soul crushing lonliness.

After my workout in the morning, I go for a short run during which I work through any grudges, resentments, or bitterness I have. It's like Marcus Aurelius' Meditations in exercise form.

I was kidding. I'm not writting a novel. I don't believe in that sort of thing.

Every time I get invited to go to this one pool, there's a Uncle Rico lookin' guy blasting Bob Seger from a waterproof speaker and ladies in the pool with a floating mahjong table. This is going into my novel in progress.

Bourbon tasting last night was fun and educational. I stood next to a super smart (MD/JD!) hard core bourbon fancier who wasn't at all snobby. Love enhancing my appreciation of sensory experiences by learning stuff. My fav was the Blood Oath Pact 6 from Lux Row.

Going to a friend's bourbon tasting and he's got some rare, expensive ones and I hope it isn't wasted on me because I can only detect the 5 basic tastes that come with your tongue.

A lot of incredible people who know what they're doing and also me.

Most people feel unseen, unheard, and powerless. Feeling that most of my life is what made the show relatable. To more perfectly love and understand people, I need to feel that again to be able to help more effectively. My concern is healing hearts and minds, world repairing.

When I had the show, I felt a blessed sense of purpose and accomplishment, now I feel a sense of worthlessness, fear, failure, and loss. So spiritually speaking, I'm actually very lucky!

Studied poetry as undergrad and in graduate school. Got lots of awards and everything. Then graduated and got a string of humiliating, dispirting jobs, then got a radio show. And the show was basically poetry+humiliation, and I think thoughtful folks can relate to that.

Finishing reading Kawabata's The Sound of the Mountain and was thinking the whole time, "If there was a movie, Setsuko Hara should play the daughter-in-law." And then I find out there IS a movie and Setsuko Hara DOES plays the daughter-in-law. Mid century Japanese lit and cinema for the win!

Feel like a bit of a hypocrite for being against those camera glasses when I totally wanted to order a comic book ad spy pen when I was 10.

I invented those meta glasses years ago, but the camera was in the fake nose part.

Since ending the show, I am experiencing a strange loneliness, as if I'm missing people I never met. As I was steeping tea, I realized that the years of infusing creates a greater richness, and that we shared a ceremony together over a great distance through time.
