I've played enough Risk to know that if the US takes Greenland, they're going to want Canada and Mexico next to get the completed continent bonus.

Just freed a car stuck outside my place but watching the way they fishtailed driving away it may have been safer for everyone when they were stuck...

Swarmed by ducks in Shubie on our commute home yesterday, hadn't seen any really during the cold streak. These ones were definitely looking to be fed which always feels strange.

Probably late to this but they reprogrammed the Wyse+Nantucket intersection onto the bridge right? Feels like green for vehicles turning right from Wyse onto the bridge is longer and the bike light to cross that sliplane is shorter. Easier to get stuck waiting through an extra light cycle now :(

Had never noticed the term "fluid milk" before on a print ad until now and it feels very odd to me. (Also why is the qualifier only added on the english portion)

Spent some time yesterday unsubscribing my grandmother-in-law from an app which seemed to be designed to prey on the elderly.

Most things were better this morning though at least one trail we use was completely untouched. Still took the lane on Waverley, Wyse, Barrington (Northbound against traffic), and Devonshire though.

Main roads decent, drivers taking it slow and not many out there. Most of the bike infrastructure is inconsistent, Dartmouth Commons path from Dahlia to Wyse is cleared 40% of the way, then not. Banook MUP clear from Graham's Grove to Nowlan, then also not. Bare road usually best.

Winter is back! Glad to see our ski hills getting an early start this year, hopefully means a long and bountiful season.

Every instance of regret during my bike commutes the last two days has been when I try and use uncleared bike lanes instead of a clear traffic lane next to them.

No water on Waverley Rd due to a main break. No restoration estimate... Doesn't look great.

Looks like they've made changes to Halifax Rec's program search to make it a little more functional but not sure how they missed having location as a column in the search results, or properly populated in the filters (one Gymnasium please):

Now that my commute is longer I'm continually amazed at the bad driving. Red lights being run, intersections being blocked, etc, etc. Saw a cargo van run a 15 second old red light this morning and almost T-bone a cube truck at full speed. Pretty sure I would've been in the ricochet zone for that one

Just me or are the signals at Wyse and Boland strange? There's an advanced pedestrian signal and then a combo green straight and right turn arrow that cuts across said crosswalk in quick succession. Bikes have a red throughout but feels like their green should be timed with the pedestrians.

Feels like this parking spot on Devonshire shouldn't exist, or should be moved forward like 8ft. I'd say about 50% of my commute homes have someone partially parked in the bike lane.

It's prime "I don't want a penny of my tax money spent on the 100 or so people who ride bicycles in the city" season for those who celebrate.

Taking my bike into the shop today and was hoping to use a Bird scooter or bike to get home but there just isn't a single one apparently in Burnside or Dartmouth Crossing?

Looking for some extra relatively minimal effort lighting/reflective gear for my kid while biking. Have a little light on their goggle strap but thinking kid-friendly reflective stickers, bag charms, etc. Closest I've found so far are these:

Tried to take a shortcut through a random trailhead today which I now know was Spectacle Lake Trail. Definitely not shorter, but a nice little detour with some marsh/lake views.

Threw on my studded tires last night as a precaution and was glad to see the bridge bike lane salted but not too bad of a ride this morning otherwise. Heavy traffic on Albro Lake and Leaman which I can only guess was for school drop off (was some construction in the area too)?

Phenomenon I've noticed: You're first to arrive at a traffic light on bike, you take lane. Driver A approaching behind you has open lane on left also going straight, stays in your lane. Lane to the left then fills. When light turns green, Driver A is impeded by you, gets frustrated. (Unforeseeable)

Two morning commutes in and so far so good. Glad I've done a few group rides in these areas to give me some familiarity though. Haven't done the Burnside leg yet, will be doing that this afternoon, I'm sure that'll be a little less straightforward.

Big crowd at the new pump track opening in Bedford. My son's been loving the small track. Trying to get him up on the big one but might have better luck when it's less busy.

Just saw a video of a near miss at the Cogswell + Barrington intersection where it looks like the bi-directional cycle lane green is at the same time as a right hand green that crosses the bike lane? Not to mention this truck turning left also is a huge point of conflict. Anyone been through here?

Not going to lie, pretty intrigued by this new Bedford pump track, going to have to go check it out. Still haven't been out to the new Eastern Passage one either.

Darn, cargo bike has a leak and slime didn't work to seal it. Note to self to keep extra tubes on standby, especially when they're non-standard sizes.

Well not the greatest weather for our final bike bus of the fall and honestly surprised we even got 4 kids out - but they were dressed for the weather and didn't seem to mind!

Starting a new job in two weeks so figuring out the new commute. Not a super direct route from Burnside to Kempt Rd by bike or bus but will figure something out... probably just go the long way on bike.

Wasn't a bike bus day today but saw lots of kids biking nonetheless despite the chill this morning. Was able to stop and help one having issues with their chain, one of those things where the more people using the trails is actually better.

After visiting Ireland and then coming home to yardwork, I may or may not be researching the legality of owning a pair of miniature sheep in HRM.

I hate that we prioritize drive-thrus over people ordering inside. Watching 10+ drivers who didn't even arrive until after you made your order get their food before you makes no sense to me.

I don't really understand the speed limit standards in Ireland. 100km/h on narrow roads with no shoulders, blind turns/hills every 100m and sheep and people roaming around every corner. I'll go half that, thx.

Helped organize my 20 year high school reunion a few weeks ago and, as much as that statement makes me feel old, it was actually a pretty chill, fun and well-received event, with a decent turnout (100+), so kind of looking forward to the next one already.

Still not home yet, my 5yr old biked to school, biked to the pump track, did some laps, biked to the bbq, biked back to the pump track, and probably doing laps now til sundown since a dozen of his classmates are here.

MWES Bike Bus was back in action this morning, I think our biggest ride yet! Great to see new kids out and returning kids back with more confidence after a summer of riding! Lots of excited chatter before the ride.

My neighbour is trying to sell a pretty cool looking Mission Trike Trailer. Told them I'd share it around. Looks like a nice and stable way to haul a passenger and cargo.

I like to pretend after fitting in enough tables for twelve families in six car spots they still had the room to purposefully leave these end markings visible for bike parking.

Been solo potty training my youngest the last two days, which isn't a very outside compatible activity. Very excited to get out of the house tomorrow. Maybe a bike in the morning, Wanderers game later, sounds in order.
