It’s a monstrous idea to say that suffering brings people closer to God & God is testing us when he allows bad things into our lives to prove our faith. Romanticizing suffering provides an excuse to not help others. People hide behind toxic Christianity to justify & even rejoice when others suffer.

I absolutely love reading Emily Henry. This is a friends to lovers - forced proximity - watch each other in relationships - secretly in love - refuse to admit it - kind of romance. Oh - and they take an annual vacation with each other! What could possibly be keeping them apart?! Love it! #booksky📚💙

I was pleasantly surprised with this 2nd book. It’s not as good as The Plot, but it wasn’t a waste of time. It’s nice to see the villain get away every now & then. I really enjoyed how each chapter was the title of the sequel to a popular 1st book. That type of ingenuity tickles me. #booksky📚💙

The Plot is about an author who writes a book with an unusual storyline. As a reader, you get to read excerpts from the main character's book as well as read the story as it happens in the book itself. It's a bit meta but was quite interesting. I immediately picked it up the next book. #booksky📚💙

I enjoyed this, but some parts were too hard to believe (even for thriller/mystery). The MFC was also super annoying. I don’t have to always like the MC & their POV, but I think I was supposed to, & I didn’t. The atmosphere was enjoyable, & up to the end, I was invested in the weirdness. #booksky📚💙

I realize a memoir’s natural state is the “unreliable narrator,” but I’d believe that this is a true account of what it was like to work at Facebook. Wynn-Williams does a brilliant job of breaking down just what her role was at Facebook & how she gave up on any good Facebook could’ve done #booksky

We like to think bad things happen “away” from us, but don’t. Last night it was my family’s turn when my oldest (a middle school band teacher) was at a high school football game where a student was shot. My son is safe and got other students to safety. He’s my hero. Enough bullshit. #gunviolence

This book is just fun. Two serial killers try their hand at a “normal” family life. But the murders, sneaking around, and lies don’t stop - but now they’re doing it to each other! #booksky📚💙

I liked this, but the writing kept pulling me out of the story. Sometimes it was a missing word or the wrong word. Sometimes descriptions were off - she’s standing over him but she looks UP at him. The FMC is Tamryn but for one page, she was Tamyra. I just couldn’t stay in the story. #booksky📚💙

I love books where a group of people get together in the middle of nowhere & start sharing horrible secrets & get revenge. This one seemed like that about the first 60%. Then it just went downhill fast - I mean there was even a villain monologue. Ugh I wanted to like this, but it was meh. #booksky📚💙

While this one isn’t as good as Still Beating, I enjoyed this age-gap romance. There were a few parts where I felt like the dialogue was awkward, but other than that, it was a good read. #booksky📚💙

This is my third Emily Henry book, and I loved it! Normally, I would say I’m not a romance girly because the HEA is always guaranteed. And I want to be surprised! But even though you know there’s an HEA, the story is so satisfying. Highly recommend! #booksky📚💙

The atmosphere was delicious at the beginning. However, it quickly devolved into inconsistency. Much of the different POV was unnecessary. A lot of backstory was missing, & things just happened out of convenience. I skimmed the last 25% bc I lost interest & figured how it would go. 2.5🌟 #booksky📚💙

I can’t really put a finger on why this story didn’t quite work for me. The budding romance really had no chemistry, and everything about the murder investigation felt forced. It’s a relatively light and quick read - even with a murder involved. #booksky📚💙

I didn’t like this & it’s not bc I watched OITNB on Netflix. It’s bc NOTHING HAPPENS! This book has no flow - it jumps from one random scene to the next - backward & forward in time. The idea of food & taste being attached to memory & loved ones after death is a unique take on the afterlife. While the concept intrigued me, there were parts of the story that seemed cartoonish in description. 1/2 #booksky📚💙
