This covers album, made in a whirlwind of scrappy fervour to celebrate 20 years of CAR last year, is both weird and fills me with delight. I don't like using the label to release my own music, but a few of us formed a band called Les Antipopes to make a little something among all the real musicians.

The last of the three new record arrivals today was a vinyl copy of Before And After Science, and just being able to put that away in my record shelves felt like how I imagine neolithic people must have felt when a new sarsen stone locked into place within the megalithic monument they were building.

Another new purchase now spinning: Flying Saucer Attack's 1995 Chorus compilation. The liner notes, interestingly, suggest that the band (or at least David Pearce) saw everything they did from the start through Further and a little afterwards as one cohesive album. Which makes a lot of sense.

Newly acquired the Robert Pollard 2013 album Blazing Gentlemen and enjoying it a lot. After ~20 albums of mostly pretty hard-rockin' Dough Gillard-augmented Guided By Voices, there's something quite refreshingly restrained about just Bob in the studio with Todd Tobias filling out the arrangements.
