When I walk to my dentist I often come across interesting sights. Like a group of gulls on a roof, or a heroic Santa.

The little tree is up, with lights only so far, to welcome Yuletide. Miss Kylie has already staked out her spot for #Caturday.

The first New York crumb cake to be baked in my wonderful brand-new oven. We love Mrs. Kostyra's (a/k/a Martha Stewart's mother) streusel recipe. Can't wait til dinner time.

A #Brooklyn early bird neighbor putting up Christmas lights even before the Thanksgiving weekend. Actually, they strung these up 2 days ago.

I've got a brand-new stove! Such a luxury for an urban apartment dweller to have an replacement appliance that no one has used before. (Martin Short's character on Only Murders has the same one, a GE.)

Miss Kylie has taken a moment from her activity of the day (napping) to wish us all a happy #Caturday.

I just got a self-congartulatory email from Social Security bragging about the 2026 COLA increase. Of course it doesn't mention the increase in the monthly cost of Medicare Part B. That's the lot of us old folks these days: running in place, going backwards, fighting for our own money.

My daughter's SNAP account said she had her full monthly amount. But when she tried to test it with a small online grocery order, she got an insufficient funds message. Expect chaos, as usual.

Non-professional observation here: I'm home all day with the TV on in the background. I'm hearing more and more people pronouncing the indefinite article "a" the long way -- "aaay" rather than "uh." "Aaay" bag of chips. It will become the norm in short order.

Just a few days ago our mighty tree had lovely yellow leaves. Then, on Thursday, #Brooklyn had dangerous flooding rain. And yesterday, Friday, we had gale force winds. And now, on Saturday, our tree looks ready for Winter.

On the USDA SNAP page the first thing presented is this, on a red background: "Senate Democrats have now voted 12 times to not fund the food stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Bottom line, the well has run dry.

It's been another super-duper windy day in #Brooklyn. We seem to be having far too many of those lately.

I don't know. I couldn't make any sense of this Trummpp at Yankee Stadium thing. I'm reading reports of both booing & cheering, but the sounds were apparently rigged for the broadcast on YES, the Yankees network. From what was shown, everyone there seemed rather subdued in their reactions.

OK. Top of 3rd inning, they introduced DT at Yankee Stadium. His booth packed with fat men. He stood up, saluted, and said "Thank you." It was hard to parse the crowd noise. Scrambled sound, I guess. It was kind of rushed. At who's direction, I wonder. The players on the field seem disengaged

I started watching the Tigets-Yankees game when it had already started. I missed any speech made. If DT's still there (in his special bullet proof room), they're not mentioning it or showing him. The crowd seems quiet. Can't tell if that's artificial, but I do see a lot of empty seats.

It's a beautiful day, just as it was here in NYC 24 years ago. I can't forget the pall that was over all of us. My Midtown Manhattan office sent us home, only there was no public transportation running. People were sort of wandering around, not sure where to go.

Watching Yankees v Tigers now. They just announced tomorrow's planned visit by DonOld, urging fans to arrive early. The Stadium gates will open at 4 for a 7 pm game. Better that they urge fans to stay home. With those tickets so damn pricey & non-refundable, it would be a real statement.

The last news item I saw a few minutes ago says the press secretary is calling Trummpp's visit to Yankee Stadium tomorrow an "appearance." Even a quick "hello-goodbye" will be too much of him for most NYC-ers. I see no statements from the Yankees organization.

OMG! I see news that Trummpp intends to attend the Tigers v. Yankees game in NY on 9/11. Are they intending to keep the stadium empty for the whole game? Or will attendees be searched for tomatoes, bricks & dog poo? The guy who hates to be booed lives in fantasy if he tries this. What a bad idea.

Not what it looks like this #Brooklyn #Caturday. My daughter is checking the strength of Kylie's very loud purring. Kylie can really project and rattle the crockery sometimes.

Grrr. Donald trying to take control of our NYC Mayoral race? That's not going to sit well with several million anti-Trumps. In fact, it may push many undecided voters over to Zohran. Get lost, Frump. We kicked you out for a reason. Butt out.

When a holiday rolls around, they all come back to #Brooklyn.

I just heard someone say it on TV. And once again I wonder: When did "kids" become "kiddos?" I'm in constant amazement at how quickly these days universally available media brings change to spoken language. It used to take years. Now it seems to be a matter of days.

Now DT is making noise about sending troops to NYC. We in NYC already know he hates us as much as we hate him. But my worry is - should this latest wrongdoing come to pass in NYC, what will Trump lackey Mayor Eric Adams do? Open the gates & bow as they pass, I expect.

Well, friends, the edge of Erin is with us here in #Brooklyn. NY State & NYC beaches are closed for swimming. The surf & riptides are high. It rained like crazy this morning. There's a bit of sun now & it's windy as heck. Chilly, too. She'll be closer tomorrow.

I see a headline on the AP online news site I just opened: "US inflation held steady as mild tatiff hit offset by cheaper gas, food" I don't buy gas, but I do buy food. Food prices are higher than ever in NYC. Mr. Economist, please put the bar graphs down and go out into the real world.

Watching Court TV, and just saw a PSA with Kristi Noem in front of waving flags, thanking DT for keeping us all safe. The ad has Spanish subtitles, so that Kristi can warn biligually that they are coming for you, & you better leave ASAP. Anyone else see this yet? Ach du lieber!!

Miss Kylie is staying as close to the fan as possible on this humid #Caturday morning in #Brooklyn.

Much less noise than usual tonight in this part of Brooklyn. I suppose that in this heavily immigrant part of town people don't want to call attention to themselves by setting off illegal fireworks. This is, of course, not to say that there isn't firecracker noise. Just less than usual.

I, my family, & my neighbors, New Yorkers all, agree that we now feel threatened, nervous, fearful. We lived through 9/11. We know what it's like to be a target. Damn those who brought us back to this.

Yesterday's big storm only grazed my neighborhood. But there was terrible damage done all around us - New Jersey & Long Island were hard hit. This morning it's hella windy, as a high pressure front roars in. And --- They all come back to #Brooklyn.

The storm approaches #Brooklyn. There are a lot of gulls flying around, which indicates bad weather conditions at the shore.

Severe thunderstorm/wind/hail watch in effect for NYC. My CityAlerts app recommends charging up everything that needs charging. I'm even charging up my emergency device charger. Huge clouds moving in. The temperature has dropped noticeably in the last 20 minutes. The Big City is never boring. ⛈️⚡️🌬☔️
