This is highly relatable. I just entered my 50s; I love to learn and to share freely, it feels amazing when the little trinkets I make out of my own stumbles (be it related to virtual photography or coding) turn out useful to others. I'll keep doing my hobbies because that's what makes life fun.

A not-so-hot take: I think FFXIV mobile is actually an strategic move from SE to implement an engine from scratch, free from all the technical debt of the current mainline version. That may lead to a revamped client/server version - FFXIV-II, if you will - that'll allow for faster dev cycles.

MOAR #as-stagefx tests: stage orientation controls, so you can correctly place the fog according to how the scene is oriented. Handy for vertical shots! (Thanks @iggiexiv.bsky.social for the suggestion!)

This is the aspect I love the most about opensource projects: A user suggested a #Listeningway feature for hearing-impaired people. Now there's a panning uniform that can be used to drive gameplay shaders like this one, that indicates where the sound is coming from.

Shaders are neat and have more uses than you might think: -Image editors / filters -Animated backgrounds -Video game VFX -3D rendering -Math and science visualization -Data visualizers -Parallel data processing -Procedural / generative art -Physics simulations And more!
