On Sat 27th there's a conference about 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 as part of the 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. Entry is £5 & there's a great line up of speakers including one from @equityuk.bsky.social! We all know how much of a threat AI poses to our industry - go along to learn more.

Our Branch was represented over the Pennines in Sheffield at the weekend as members joined the annual Orgreave march with their @equityuk.bsy.social flags. The event commemorated the 42nd anniversary of the police riot at Orgreave & celebrated the great Miners’ Strike of 1984/5. #StrongerTogether

There's a new version of 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 out that was first used at Conference last month and that we also used at our latest Branch Meeting. The old 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 statement still stands but it's more for places of work. The 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 is more geared towards (you guessed it!) meetings. ✊

Two big events coming up across the Pennines! This Sat in Sheffield it's the 42nd anniv. of one of the major events of the miners' strike - Orgreave. Then on Sat 11th July it's the Durham Miners' Gala. If anyone wants to go to either then get in touch, we may be able to help with your travel.

Fancy learning a bit about the radical history of Manchester for free? Join us on Sunday 14th June for a social walk around some of the city's many historic places of politics, activism & protest. 📆 This Sunday 🕑 2-3pm 📍 Opposite Manchester Central (opposite Windmill Street) 👥 All members welcome!

It's always important to 𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙚, particularly when it's to decide which members will run Equity 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙛 for the next 2 years. Voting packs were delivered earlier this week along with the latest @equityuk.bsky.social Magazine. If you haven't had yours yet email [email protected].

Greater Manc Branch Committee members, Cadbury Parfait and Elizabeth Lisa Lewis, were proud to lay a wreath on behalf of @equityuk.bsky.social at the IWMD event yesterday. We remember the dead - and fight for the living. Work should not cost lives. It must protect lives, dignity and mental health.
