The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign kicked off today with a flag raising and proclamation. You can donate cash or tap at kettle locations around our municipality and in Penetanguishene. ‘Tis the season to give and the need is great.

As we approach our Budget 2026 discussions and the public meeting, it is always good to remind everyone who does what with your tax dollars from a municipal perspective. Jurisdiction matters and knowing which level of municipal government is responsible for different services is good to know.

Yonge St reconstruction project is progressing well. The new asphalt, narrower lanes (slows traffic) & slightly wider bike lanes (improves safety) are in place. The speed reduction to 40km/hr and the new cameras are ready to go live near Mundy’s Bay School for Sept 2nd.

Margaret Hamelin’s new ice cream truck at the Huronia Museum and Huron Ouendat Village opened today and we headed over for some delicious ice cream after the Askennonia BBQ. A portion of the proceeds go to the Huronia Musuem - what a wonderful partnership! 🍦🍨

It was a pleasure to attend the Rotary Club of Midland yesterday evening for Q&A about the town, policies, growth and the future. Rotarians continue to be community focused & raise funds for many local projects like the new seating in Little Lake Park. New Rotary initiative coming later this year!

The historic Midland (Playfair) Top Hat Ceremony was performed today with Captain Mararenko of the CSL M.V Frontenac was the first commercial ship to steam into our harbour this season. CTV Barrie news and MidlandToday were on hand. I’m proud that we’re keeping these traditions alive in Midland.
