Love this! We really need a permanent area for WDI art (something like Walt Disney Presents over at DHS) to showcase the history as well as promote upcoming projects. There is just something special about seeing it in person and being able to stare into the details of an art piece.

Had to put on a proper Walt Disney World Christmas Day parade to help celebrate this morning and was able to do so thanks to @retrowdw.bsky.social. This year, I chose the 1996 parade to share with my 4-year old since that is the one I would have experienced at her age.

I think it is safe to say that thanks to Eddie’s background, passion, and style, we ended up with the best possible version of Main Street USA that anybody could ask for in Paris and is a key reason why that park is widely considered as the most beautiful Castle Park in the world.

Cool to find out that Eddie Sotto’s aunt, Marilyn, designed some costume concepts for the park as well! Looks like Disneyland Paris runs deep in the Sotto family!

Ran across this Joe Rohde piece for an early concept of Disney Village. Didn’t realize he worked on this project!

I think one of the craziest things to come out of Euro Disneyland’s Main Street was the ability to buy a classic automobile out of a showroom within Main Street Motors! I remember Eddie talking about this in one of his interviews. Not sure if anybody ever bought one but what a cool idea!

Even though neither of these pieces were created by Eddie, his fingerprints are deep within the design of both as mentioned within the captions on the page.

First sketch of Eddie’s to show up in the book gives us a unique view of Main Street with a very different castle at the end of the street. I’m assuming before @tomkmorris.bsky.social was able to nail down the final style. Also, noticed the elevated train tracks on the right side of Main St. 👀

It still blows my mind that Herb Ryman worked on Disneyland Paris. I mean, the guy that produced the iconic aerial of Disneyland back in the 50s was at it again for a third castle park.

Decided to breakout this book and have a drink in honor of Eddie, tonight.

Holy cow, just logged on for the day and I am devastated to learn about Eddie’s passing. He was always so kind with every interaction that I had with him and was always willing to share his knowledge with the world. He definitely left the world a better place. Thank you for everything, Eddie.

Ok, this is freaking amazing. Also, we have nothing to complain about with the parks changing overtime if they can continue to go every year since ‘55. Imagine the change they have seen!
