⠀ biting the inside of her cheek , she let the quiet settle before finally answering her again , this time with a more hesitant tone . ❝ .. remember when your father and i separated for a bit when you were very little .. . ᐣ well , that's because he found out that man is your real* father . ❞ ⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ .. you remember lindsey , baby . remember . ᐣ he gifted you that detective playset on christmas when you were a little girl . ❞ she averted her eyes , only to refold one of orion's shirts again . ⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ yes , my love . ᐣ ❞ she asks warmly with a smile from the bed where she was folding her husband's shirts and trousers . ❝ all alright . ᐣ ❞ ⠀⠀

⠀ ❝ hilarious .❞ it's a good thing she keeps the stepladder somewhere around , but why bother . she'll finish drinking it once his clothes dry and he leaves . ❝ well . ᐣ go ahead then . what else is there to talk about that hasn't already been talked about , lindsey . ᐣ ❞ ⠀

⠀ she wasn't even the slightest bit intoxicated - yet . it's insulting to take away a woman's drink in her own place of comfort . now empty handed , she folded her arms across her chest . ❝ if we talk , will you give it back to me . ᐣ it's not like i'm drinking fucking absinthe . ❞ ⠀

⠀ she was clearly being sarcastic . raising a brow down at him , she took a sip of her drink then brought it down to her lap , this time squinting her eyes a bit . ❝ how am i being hostile when i let you into my apartment and offered you tea . ᐣ i could have easily left you in the rain . ❞ ⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ how so . ᐣ you're the one insisting to see me . i didn't even want to let you in . if i didn't know any better , i'd think you timed the weather and this visit to work out in your favor . ❞ she unscrewed the top of the bottle then casually refilled her glass to the brim . ⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ i'm not avoiding you , i simply have nothing to say to you , that's all . ❞ ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ after pressing the start button , she picked up the bottle of vodka she had hidden inside one of the cupboards then hopped onto the dryer to sit and wait it out rather than go back inside to face him . she let out a drawn out sigh , legs lightly swinging . ⠀

⠀ when she heard his approaching footsteps , she picked up the laundry basket from behind the couch then grabbed his clothes to dump in . ❝ i hate you .. ❞ she lied , even though it was an inconvenience that he be here . orion could stop by and assume the worst for her .. again . ⠀

⠀ why , so he could rub it in her face . ᐣ no thanks . while he's changing out of his clothes , she walks over to her small kitchen area where she starts up a kettle for tea . ⠀

⠀ ❝just .. take off your shoes first . i don't want you ruining my carpet . ❞ the blonde sighed , still taking what he said into account , but of course , not responding to it . what could she even say . ᐣ ❝ .. there's a robe in the bathroom you can put on . i'll dry your clothes . ❞ ⠀

⠀ god damn it .. alright , she'll let him in , but 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 because seeing him in the rain increases her already guilty conscience . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ so can they just forget this . ᐣ could he go home , to his wife and his daughter before he gets sick . ᐣ ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ she knows she shouldn't have . he's not so innocent either , he was married too when medea was conceived and the first time he went to look for her . that's two times now . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ she wasn't in the right mindset at the time , but she never went back to them for that reason . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ .. but she's married- she's finally happy with her life . he can't just come back like this . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ why suddenly . ᐣ why not when he caught her in the act . ᐣ why not when she was locked away in prison . ᐣ ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ doesn't he have a family to get home to . ᐣ what happened to being a devoted husband and father . ᐣ she's giving him the chance to think twice , possibly even three times about what he's doing . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ good for him .. . ᐣ perhaps he should wait elsewhere . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ i know .. i saw him for christmas , he wanted to see his daughter open up presents and i even told him to his face that there is nothing between us anymore . ᐟ for fucksake , he has a wife and a child .. i don't understand why he can't just leave me alone . ❞ ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ i see .. i suppose it was a good thing that i took the day off then . it's a never ending spiral with these men . i just want to live my life , with my family . ❞ ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ just because they have a child together , it doesn't mean anything other than that . he's her father and she's her mother . that is all there is . she's no interest in forming a relationship with him . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ they're not lousy , and it's obvious her 𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝 put in a lot of effort into finding them . however , as sweet as the photograph was , why would he gift her that . ᐣ they're not together and they never will be . what's done is done . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ after putting the dress over her shoulder , she carefully picks up her daughter with a smile as she heads up the stairs and to her room . ❝ let's get you all dolled up , love . now , should we do curls today or an updo . ᐣ ❞ ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ oh . ᐟ look at that , so red and sparkly . the perfect dress for the perfect little princess . ❞ she carefully held the dress in her hands , looking over the expensive and delicate material . ❝ and did you tell daddy thank you and give him his christmas hug . ᐣ ❞ ⠀⠀

⠀ ❝ i see .. and you didn't prefer to keep it . ᐣ ❞ a hint of a small smile formed upon her lips at the old memory . since this was her apartment , there won't be any problem if she just placed the framed photograph in her living room . speaking of which .. ❝ want to carry medea ⧽ ⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ .. ❞ of course her eyes went to the obvious gift and as much as she tried to make herself seem like she didn't care , it only made her feel guilty . ❝ i didn't get you anything .. ❞ after setting down a cup of warm tea in front of him , she took a seat beside the girl . ⠀

⠀⠀ right . he can go ahead and make himself at home , the girl just woke up and is eating her breakfast in the kitchen if he wants to join her . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ cilla black didn't start out this way .. nor did marianne fathfull or mary hopkins . most of those men they sent into her room would break the rules . she's actually surprised she made it out alive .. of course , before jack .. ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ but it's true- .. she tried very hard in school , and when she was presented with an award , they were never there . and when she worked for jack- well .. it did damage to her self esteem that she still has a hard time managing to this day . ⠀⠀

⠀ ❝ i will be there .. i only have one bed . ❞ she replied , hands still out for him to take hold of . if she's offering , what makes him think she'll leave or kick him out . ᐣ he's already in her flat , was that not enough for him to understand she's not angry . ᐣ ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ ❝ orion .. you can't possibly find the floor comfortable right now .❞ she finally spoke as she picked oliver up in her arms , a free hand reaching out to delicately cup one side of his face . ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ after she closed the door , she sat down on the floor beside him as oliver began to curiously sniff orion's face , tiny paw nudging the tip of his nose . she knew he hated cats and she'd remove him , but what for . ᐣ it's not like oliver is biting or even eating him as he would ⧽ ⠀⠀

⠀ if it wasn't for oliver who was scratching at the door , waiting to be let out , she wouldn't of had noticed the man . she let out a heavy sigh before she began to carefully drag him into her flat by his legs . he looked like he was having a pleasant sleep so she didn't want to wake him up . ⠀

⠀⠀ she left to get out of his way . it's clear that he's still in love with that woman , so why would she stay at all . ᐣ .. at least she's not trying to kill herself . as much as she wishes that she could sometimes , she still has children to take care of . ⠀⠀
