Volunteering at elementary schools is exhausting and sometimes demoralizing but there is nothing like having kids come running up to hug you and say hi 🥰

Pulled a muscle checking out a stack of picture books at the library. Is there workers comp for picture book authors? At least I have something to read while I lay down on an ice pack!

Our thanksgiving meal featured tamales, barbecued turkey and pecan pie. I think that earns me some sort of Texan badge!

Thankful for the telephone and then the internet for keeping us together even when we are apart.

Apparently my writing process this week is staring into space for long periods of time followed by suddenly proclaiming “ok, you can do this” loud enough to startle the dog. Also, chocolate flan.

The best thing about coordinating with college student volunteers for our book fair is the looks of joy and excitement on their faces when they walk back in to an elementary school library for the first time in a decade.
