The revenue NC has raised from regulating sports betting has made such a positive impact in so many communities. The grants have provided athletic equipment, fields, and facilities, as well as leagues, to encourage our children to play and compete.

Political violence and gun violence have no place in our country. We need solutions to protect our citizens. We need gun sense policies to protect Americans and prevent tragedies like the one that occurred today.

Gov. Stein has declared September to be Attendance Awareness Month. It recognizes the importance of having a strong educational background for the kids of NC, which can't be done without their presence in schools. Consistent absence isn't only detrimental to students but also to the school system.

Join Governor Stein and me in a call for stronger measures to ensure public safety, including greater security presence on public transit systems to prevent more tragedies like this one. In memory of Iryna, let us stand united against violence.

The General Assembly returns to Raleigh in two weeks, and we need to save Medicaid for North Carolinians. Three ways we can do that are appropriating unused dollars, reverting to 2019 tax rates, and passing a budget for FY2026.

Biogen is set to invest $2 billion in its largest manufacturing footprint in Research Triangle Park. Biogen is committed to developing a clinical pipeline that supports patients. This investment also supports the over 1,500 employees across the Wake and Durham County areas.

A grant of just over $2 million will be used to support the Charlotte Sports Foundation and other local partners as Charlotte hosts the 2026 Major League Soccer All-Star Game.

On Monday, I visited BASF Agricultural Solutions in Research Triangle Park to witness some of the ingenuity behind preserving our crops and creating sustainability for farmers.

A quick update on the Hurricane Helene relief bill for Western Carolina: The bill was signed into law last week.

I have been grateful to attend numerous events and meet many people in the past week as I work towards a better Carolina.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion bans act as a way to separate and divide us as North Carolinians. Instead of passing policies that benefit us, the Republicans are focused on these instead of policies that support our basic state needs.

The General Assembly has left Raleigh without passing a budget after Republican majorities in the House and Senate failed to agree on a framework that benefits North Carolinians, forcing our state to continue to operate at current funding levels, but what does this mean for us?

Thanks to the support of the Democratic caucus and the Republican House Caucus, we were able to eliminate the amendment of HB 442 that would have been catastrophic to commercial fishermen in North Carolina.

As reported by Durham Public Schools, the class of 2025 earned over $72,000,000 in scholarships. Once again, Congratulations to all of the graduates of 2025!

College sports betting was meant to be a way to fund all of our public universities and colleges, including our HBCUs, not just the larger institutions. For long-term success, we need to consider a better distribution.

With higher education under attack, now is more important than ever to support the future generation. These are the people who will be the next entrepreneurs who will fuel our economy.

The NC Innovation Waiver helps support and cover services for those who have children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD), and it's sad to see a budget that doesn't support these individuals.
