After struggling to find many migrants at Pewley and Stoke, it was rather stunning to visit Whitmoor Common today and see 2 Pied Flys, 3 Spotted Flys and at least 4 Willow Warblers. Sorry no photos, as I can't manage a camera while also wrangling a lively puppy on a lead! #surreybirding #ukbirding

Pretty quiet on the first @bbs-birds.bsky.social visit today, maybe due to the biting north wind and near-freezing temps at 6am. Highlight was a singing Willow Warbler, first since 2017 and only the third in 25 years! A new Firecrest, but the second year in a row with no Swallows at the farm.

My day off today so went to THAT PLACE and saw THIS THING!

This Spring, the garden is full of the twitters and wheezes of Greenfinches, which seem to be finally bouncing back from their long decline. Not only that, but the other day I saw TWO Chaffinches in the garden. At the same time! #ukbirding

It's brown, it's drab, it's distant, but joy was unconfined when I finally managed to see the Little Bunting at Prews Farm, on my 6th attempt. #surreybirds #ukbirding

No scarce buntings today, but the flocks at Prews Farm are truly extraordinary. Perhaps 1000 Linnets today, with many hundred Chaffinches, and smaller numbers of Reed Buntings, Yellowhammers and Bramblings. #UKBirding #SurreyBirds

Its the time for the annual patchlist wrap! Total species seen in my patch (10km from my home in Guildford) this year was....118. So two less than last year. Some clear highlights; Hen Harrier, Ring Ouzel, Cattle Egret, Hawfinch, White Stork... 1/2

I somehow didn't manage to see a Peregrine on my patch this year; however that was rectified at the last minute by a visit to Guildford Cathedral today. #ukbirding #surreybirds
