#MLKday is a federal holiday, but DC’s Peace Walk + Parade is a #Ward8 event! I’ve been coming to this treasured annual tradition since I was a kid and I’m glad we were back outside on the Ave this year. Now let’s make King’s dream real by winning Statehood for the people of DC.

As we celebrate the 40th national #MLKday, let us recommit to the unfinished fight of the civil rights movement: full self-determination and statehood for the people of DC. Dr. King marched alongside DC leaders to move us closer to that dream. It’s this generation’s task to finish the job.
