Progress for #HobbyStreak day 270: Got the initial layer on the base and details done, attached and final washed the Landraider, and started blending the tracks into the mud and applying some additional goopy weathering

Added some ubiquitous skulls, adjusted and shaped the "barbed wire", sprayed, and started painting the big flat disc for #HobbyStreak day 269 In fairness to me, that's a load of textured paint I'll be leaving to dry over night... Then we'll see what shape it is and adjust from there

Applied the decals to the Landraider for #HobbyStreak day 268 and then became so irked by the idea of handling it while applying washes again that I started building a base for it

Painted and added the sponsons, painted the tracks, and blended the doors in for #HobbyStreak day 267; just the icons, final washes, and maybe some more details to go?

Worked the iron back up, painted the doors, attached the tracks, and started detailing. The tracks need properly painting and the doors need blending in a bit, but not bad for #HobbyStreak day 266

Started painting the 'raider for #HobbyStreak day 265, just working through the various stages of undergrime before bringing the iron back up. It's been a while since I painted a vehicle and I'd forgotten how annoying it is not having a base

Landraider ready for its without to be ironed... I'll spray it tomorrow. I think I'm going with just the doors getting stripes and I'll add the tracks after spraying so I don't have to entirely repaint them #HobbyStreak day 264

It grows! I realised that I haven't built a Landraider since the original plastic version with the fragile lascannon mounts that this is based on, which is a bit weird. It's much easier than I remember though! Also, yes, I'm gluing the doors shut 😝 #HobbyStreak day 263

Exhausting day so not much for #HobbyStreak day 262, but at least a start on a treat for myself

Finished up the Oblit... Saturnine Terminators for #HobbyStreak day 261! Added a bit of detail to their huge bases and decided I really like the barren, no-man's-land look so painted the rims and went back to do the same for the squad. Also realised I'd not given two of them bayonets, so fixed that

Refined the stripes, painted the remaining details, added transfers and final washes to the twins for #HobbyStreak day 260 Just the bases to go!

Tarnished the armour and painted & removed the hazard masking for #HobbyStreak day 259 - still some tidyup to do from the masking. Building and painting these chonks... I want to male a Space Hulk set based on 50mm bases! They really make sense as things that have to work to turn around

Spent #HobbyStreak day 258 building and masking the second member of the unit ready for painting (photo right) They really look like they could... Obliterate... some stuff

Started to Iron Warrior a Saturnine Terminator for #HobbyStreak day 256. Annoyingly, removing the chest aquila means mostly building it and apparently Citadel base paints are terrible undercoats, so I'll be giving this a quick respray tomorrow before I mask the hazard stripes

I remembered the process (and wrote it down)! Finished the bases from yesterday up to the same point as the rest of the squad for a family photo. I need to tidyup the rims, but I can't decided if I should add something or leave them a bit plain, which does suit the Iron Warriors #HobbyStreak day 255

Transfers and final washes done for #HobbyStreak day 254, and made a start on the bases... I hope I remembered the process correctly 😬

Now with more paint! Just need to add the transfers, final washes, and do the bases #HobbyStreak day 253

I did end up adding a little more masking for #HobbyStreak day 252 before working on painting and tarnishing their armour

And now with stripes masked for #HobbyStreak day 251! I'll admit I kind of got a little bored, so maybe I'll add some more tomorrow. I do need to remember to do this even earlier in the build in the future so it's easier to do legs and chests

Second half of the squad mostly built for #HobbyStreak day 250, will add the remaining shoulder pads and helmets as part of masking the hazard stripes. Squad leader isn't as obvious as I had in my head, but I think he's suitably dour for an Iron Warrior

Worked on basing for #HobbyStreak day 249; this wasn't really what I started out looking for, but I stumbled into it and quite like the effect... Maybe needs something?

Spent #HobbyStreak day 248 adjusting and repainting the previous 3 prototype Iron Warriors to better match the final scheme. For basing I'm thinking wet mud? Go for something siege / trench warefare?

Ok this is definitely how I'm painting Iron Warriors! Finished the two from yesterday for #HobbyStreak day 247 and it was a lot more fun than the previous attempts, I even added waterslide icons (and attempted to dirty them a bit) Basing next I guess

Prepped and built two more Iron Warriors for #HobbyStreak day 246. My new plan is: hide the inconsistency by not mirroring anything and mask the black instead of the yellow, so when I scrape back the paint edges it reveals the black

Stripes on the third 'Warrior done for #HobbyStreak day 245, a mix of tape and freehand. Lesson learned; I just can't do satisfactorily consistent stripes on these compound curved shoulder pads, and that's ok. I do think I've figured out a decent process for the rest of it though.

Working on a third Iron Warrior for #HobbyStreak say 244. Didn't quite get this one finished, mostly because I'm trying to freehand the stripes and it's breaking my brain (you can see some of my attempts to sketch them out). The weathering is much better on this one though

Second attempt at Iron Warriors for #HobbyStreak day 243, this time with much thinner masking tape; a definite improvement! I need to be careful of the paint edges it creates though, and the stripes are a little awkward on the chain attachment. Weathering looks better.

Experimental Iron Warrior for #HobbyStreak day 242... It's ok I guess? Was it worth the hour I spent cursing the masking tape and whomever designed the compound curve of Space Marine shoulder pads? Frankly, no. Fun to paint otherwise though, but stripes are a nightmare!

Took a chance with the humidity to varnish the Sentinel and I think I got away with it! Added some gloss to the gems and attached it to the base. Another Mega Gargant joins the army (after an absolute age) for #HobbyStreak day 241

I think the Cathayan Mega Gargant might be finished? Spent #HobbyStreak day 240 refining the gems and painting all the vines. I did realise there are a bunch of gems around the armour, but I'm leaving those stone as I don't want it looking too fancy. Now I wait for good varnishing weather!

Looking at it again today I'm liking the overall tone so moving onto the details for #HobbyStreak day 239, starting with some extra highlights on the damaged areas and working on the gems - will probably gloss them when I'm finished

Spent #HobbyStreak day 238 layering a bunch of fun colours to end up with... This. Is that reading as really, really old stone? At one point I accidentally made it almost like a tarnished metal (with no metallics) and I had to bring it all the way back to this, so I think I need to sleep on it

Back on the Cathayan Mega Gargant for #HobbyStreak day 237! Attached it to a temporary base, tacked the mask on, and gave it a soft zenithal with a few layers of spraycoat

All inspiration fled me today, so I spent #HobbyStreak day 236 engaging in that rarest of hobby activities... Tidying my desk.

The Tyranids won out! While I have all the static grass gadgets and mess out I may as well go through and add all the little tufts I'd intended for their bases. Starting with my 60 Termagants for #HobbyStreak day 235

It's amazing the difference a good flocking will make! Dug out the gadgets and just got it done for #HobbyStreak day 234. The pitchfork got a little buried, but I know it's there. Only problem now is my backlog of Tyranid bases are glaring at me...

Base painting finished for #HobbyStreak day 233! Still needs flocking, but that means clearing space and digging out gadgets... Ugh.

Good weather and a good start on the base for #HobbyStreak day 232; mostly blocking out colours, but already got it good and muddy

Score one for regular hobby logging! I was going to spraycoat the base for #HobbyStreak day 231, but I looked back at previous Gargant WIP photos and realized I hadn't added sand (was planning texture paint). So today was mostly spent waiting for layers of white glue to dry... Paint tomorrow!

Decided to detail out the base for #HobbyStreak day 230. I usually paint these up separate from the big 'un so may even get onto that tomorrow

A particularly unexciting #HobbyStreak day 229; greenstuff footprint and feet pinning (not pictured), which involved filling some giant voids in the feet

More vines for #HobbyStreak day 228! Actually really enjoying creating the story of how long this thing stood inactive, but I do have a problem; how do I know when to stop?

Did some adhesive experiments for #HobbyStreak day 227 and discovered that plastic cement works for these PLA vines if they're give a little extra time and pressure... Excellent! So I've started the somewhat slow, but less annoying than messing with super glue, process of overgrowing the Sentinel

I'll probably end up looking back and regretting #HobbyStreak day 226, but I cut and scraped off the remaining ribbons, and then crudely ground and carved back in some of the detail. In my head this will be mostly covered by vines again...

Experimenting with different vine options for #HobbyStreak day 225: GW's vine (rear) feels more tree proportion? Scale razor/barbed wire feels better, except for the lack of leaves 3d printed option (right) is pretty good! Just need to figure out how to glue it on (similar to the wire - springy!)

After the brief intermission I'm back on the Sentinel Gargant for #HobbyStreak day 224, and I present to you... A wall! I haven't actually fixed the Sentinel in place yet though, I think I want to figure out some plant growth to show how old it is?

Spent most of the day fighting with the 3d printer trying to get it to make more little blocks for #HobbyStreak day 223 and it mocked me! I think I finally have a print under way that'll work 😤 As penance for the lack of tangible progress / a needed mental health break I built this cute Lego kit

Added the Sentinel's head for #HobbyStreak day 222; I left the facemask off so I can paint the eyes, but that face is haunting... I may need to break open the mask to reveal it again? I also started figuring out basing and I'm thinking Gatebreaker theme?

Pose locked (glued) in and the mighty shoulder pads added for #HobbyStreak day 221! I also accidentally knocked off the silly long ribbon that I knew was going to get broken as soon as I glued it, back on page 2. Ah well.
