I've been making a few of my "procrastination patches." There are times when my head isn't quite right. When I finish a large piece or when "real" life gets complicated, stressful, or I get a mood swing, I make small handstitched patches that can be sewn onto anything. #embroideryart ##craftiverse🧶

I have been back to working on my embroidered Quilt Project. This is No.96 hand embroidered onto denim. Some of the 3½"x4½" panels I use to make my fabric print designs. I photograph the original and use 2 lines of symmetry to then produce the final fabric print design. #craftiverse🧶 #embroideryart

I was asked me about some of my other craft projects. I like to spin & dye wool using natural plant dyes from my garden. I did this awhile ago now. It combines a few different techniques, including latching & stitching using our wool both sheep & rabbit. #craftiverse 🧶

I've been taking a little break from my usual work to make a badge for one of my nieces. She has developed a love of dinosaurs & drew me a lovely picture of a brachiosaurus 😳 So I hand embroidered a 3" badge for her using her drawing 😊 #embroideryart #craftiverse 🧶

I don't think I have worked out how to use Bluesky that well 🤔 tbh I haven't really explored much beyond using the hashtag embroidery & looking through loads of posts that don't seem to have anything to do with it. Any advice? Anyway, here's another progress update on my latest denim jacket.

Hand embroidery I am fascinated by the symbolism of spiders. I first came across the story of Arachne & Athena (Minerva) in Ovid's writings as a young kid, and it, amongst others, led me to a lifelong interest in classical mythology. An allegorical tale of hubris or an early example of "me too?".

Stage 2. My latest denim jacket hand embroidery The journey continues My client has traveled all over the world & is interested in cultural symbology. To connect my subconscious mind, I like to meditate on polysemous terms, in this case, the Wheel of Time or Kalachakra. My first element is water.

This is the 1st stage of my new hand embroidery jacket commission. This is the central panel. I'm thinking of this as the hub of the Great Wheel, with the 4 elements, water, air, earth & fire. I can't say what will come next as there is no fixed design. I'll post some progress photos as I go.

I hand embroidered a tie for my mum's funeral. She began my embroidery journey 50+ years ago. I tried to combine her geometric needlepoint style with my contemporary style, and I used her favourite colour palette as a tribute and to celebrate her life and embrace her spirit.

My mum died today 💔 She was 93 and passed peacefully in her own bed. She taught me to stitch. She never sold her work but gave it away to family, friends & her church. She never shared her work on social media. I don't think she ever went on the internet So today, I want to share some of her work 🙏
