I absolutely love this story by @ambersparks.bsky.social Recently, I saw a very grumpy call for submissions that listed all the things they did NOT want to see in their queue and this story fits a couple of those. Be open to brilliance and innovation, editors, and you will be rewarded.

With the exception of, like, a dozen giant name writers (and maybe even them too, tbh), even the smallest little note makes a writer’s day/week/month.

Have done a handful of zoom class visits in last couple of weeks, and been reading a bunch'a submissions, and I don't really have much advice for writers/submitters, and this incredibly unhelpful, but as an editor: I'm not looking for stories that are "good." I'm looking for stories that I LOVE.
