Authoritarianism often grows while people look away. We can’t afford to dismiss it. Our democracy only survives if ordinary citizens pay attention and speak out.

When political leaders blur the line between loyalty to one man and loyalty to the Constitution, that’s a red flag. When tariffs and punishments are used to silence opposition, it’s not just “policy”, it’s a threat to freedom.

Silence is complicity. We must name what’s happening now.

Wouldn't surprise me. Every battle has an end. Voters are very, very, very concerned with what they are now witnessing on local news media. What's worse is what is happening at the grocery store. It's a robbery of sorts.

Well said and totally agree. The first time I realized that there was inequality was at age 8 when I couldn't play softball with the boys and I was better than most. That was 62 years ago and I've fought the battle ever since.

MAGA = COLLECTIVE CONFORMITY

 Going against the hive can trigger criticism, ridicule, or even exclusion. In political, religious, or workplace settings, people often silence themselves to avoid being targeted.

  Thinking for yourself is hard work; following the majority saves mental energy. People assume the crowd “must know something” (wisdom of the majority), so they mirror group behavior.

It’s less about truth, more about belonging and protection and it’s driving people to follow the crowd even when the crowd is wrong.

That’s why crowds chant, parties echo, and people defend “their side” no matter what. It’s less about truth more about safety and belonging.

Why so many follow the hive mentality today:    •   Safer to blend in than stand out    •   Belonging feels better than being alone    •   Fear of backlash keeps people quiet    •   Easier to repeat slogans than think deeply    •   Outrage spreads faster than truth

MAGA crowds chanting in unison, partisan echo chambers on Facebook, or culture-war fights where people defend “their side” no matter what.

Hive mentality can lead to cooperation and unity, but it can also fuel mob behavior, blind loyalty, and dangerous conformity. The key is recognizing when you’re following the group out of wisdom and when it’s out of fear or habit.
