One of my Axe ancestors, Mary Ann, married William Shakespeare.

My ancestors Samuel Isaac Axe and Charlotte Rees had three children: Charlotte, Edgar and Eleanor. Sadly, Eleanor died on 6 August 1844, aged three. Charlotte married Thomas Henry Symonds and the couple raised a family. What of Edgar? In August 1848, almost to the day Eleanor died, this happened.

My 5 x great grandfather Samuel Axe, a Master Bricklayer, married Grace Austin on 22 Sepember 1803 in Saint Luke‘s, Old Street, Finsbury. Grace was the daughter of a Gentleman, Isaac Austin, and his wife Mary Chetwynd, the Chetwynd’s being a notable Essex family.
