Sunday’s sunset kept distracting me from my book - finally stepped out to take some pictures.

Went back to a favorite scone variation: dried dark cherries and 72% chocolate chips. I was generous.

This week’s variety: espresso scones with dark chocolate. Made blueberry muffins- they are almost gone already. Next: amazing sour cream recipe for Irish soda bread. Gotta love a work from home teacher work day! (I worked on stuff yesterday)

Found this boxed set of CDs and DVDs in a thrift store waiting for me. This album, especially Heart of Gold, followed the 17 year old me as I traveled around and worked on a farm in Europe in my gap year

Tried distracting myself with some snowbound baking. I did forget the vanilla sugar on top of the muffins. Scones were supposed to be orange cranberry. Opened the cranberry bag ew! Almost put sun dried tomatoes in. Found some cherries instead. Not distracted at all ☹️

Scone variation this weekend: lemon blueberry, two year old grandson’s favorite. Dropped off some - he calls them Nana muffins and always checks my hands when I come over.

Ignoring the chaos this morning, the week’s scone version is coffee dark chocolate (72%)

Adopted these little guys and already can’t imagine being without them.

So excited my Royal Mail package arrived from Waterstones with the just released 10th anniversary edition of my favorite Christmas book. A powerful message in these times (and it was fun seeing updates from the Royal Mail in my email).

This popped up on my phone- made the morning better.

Have to say, these turned out delicious. Added ground walnuts and bit of brown sugar to the mix and made a glaze with maple syrup.

I love watching the slow start of day even though I really should be sleeping.

Sometimes, you just need mountains.
