One or two rounds of severe thunderstorms may occur in central to Northern Michigan between Wednesday late morning and overnight.

While the heat wave builds into southern Michigan, clumps of severe thunderstorms could ride across far northern Michigan this afternoon and tonight.

The heat wave won't last long because of the high number of disturbances kicking out of the Pacific Ocean and across the northern U.S. Each one of these disturbances will knock down the hot dome centered just south of Michigan.

Isolated severe storms remain possible Tuesday afternoon and evening across western portions of the state.

Southern Lower Michigan faces a dangerous heat wave beginning Tuesday, with temperatures climbing into the extreme range.

Hot weather moving into Michigan this week is expected to bring more than just heat.

“MDOT personnel are evaluating significant damage to multiple state roads following heavy rains this afternoon in the northern Lower Peninsula,” the agency said.

High temperatures on Friday will range from the mid-70s to near 80 degrees. Southern Michigan, particularly along the I-94 corridor near the Indiana border, could see some cloudy skies and light rain this evening.

Expect mid-70s temperatures Friday with fog clearing by midday. The weekend stays near normal in the low 80s, but a ridge builds Monday bringing multiple days of dangerous heat.

We have an authentic hot and humid spell on the way. When we combine the temperature and humidity, it will feel like 100 degrees starting early next week.
