Trying to Bridge the Web For a long time I have been a big proponent of keeping my data on my personal website, and sharing to social media as I see fit. I've talked a lot about the "open web" in the past. So lately I've been exploring ways that I can better participate in a more peer-to-peer web.

“Gotta get down to it, soldiers are cutting us down. Should have been done long ago. What if you knew her and found her dead on the ground? How can you run when you know?” Different generation, same tyranny.

I keep seeing things like “Trump is rapidly moving this country toward authoritarianism”, or “we’re in danger of becoming a fascist dictatorship”. Sorry, that ship has sailed. We’re already there. The only question now is can we win the country back?

Always delighted when my computer does something new. I was logging in to a site that required a verification code which it sent me by text. My computer picked up the text, extracted the code, offered to fill in and submit the verification form, and then delete the text. How cool is that!

What did you see in that video? “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” ― George Orwell, 1984 But in the age of fake news and AI our eyes and ears are easily fooled.

I just received a text message from Mark Kelly's campaign asking for a donation. I fully support Mark Kelly, but I swore off giving money. I think it's a loosing strategy for Democrats. There has got to be a better way.

With friends like these who needs enemies! I hope no one is fooled by Trump’s using antisemitism as an excuse to attack academic freedom and to go after Muslims. Rather than making the country safer for Jews he is doing the exact opposite.

Heather Cox Richardson’s been going on about how the Ukraine drone attack is a game changer in warfare. Really it was just the Trojan Horse ploy. They hid the drones in prefab housing being shipped into Russia.

The news this morning said today is the 50th anniversary of "the fall of Saigon". The fall of what? You mean Reunification Day as they celebrate it in Vietnam? It made me wonder what they call American Independence Day in England? Ungrateful colonist rebellion day? Perspective is everything.

Here in western Oregon most drives are generally courteous. But there are occasional angry MAGAts in their big pickup trucks trying to run you off the road. They don't even know why they're angry. They just see a cyclist and assume you're a liberal and therefore to blame for all their problems.

I had a lovely bike ride today despite two drivers trying to run me off the road. It made me realize MAGAts are still angry. They won, the got their man and he’s doing all the awful things they want, but a lone cyclist on a country road is still a threat to them.

I verified some of my friends using this. It was not working all that great at resolving handles. However if I looked up their DID first it would work with that.
