Minnie Cox, Fisk University graduate, Teacher and First Black woman appointed Postmaster in MS. Cox was dedicated to equal rights, responding to disparities in resources available to Black citizens, she also opened a bank and insurance companies to protect their assets. #BHM

Day 21 of Black History month education: After Minnie Cox, the first black female postmaster, was forced out of her post in Mississippi, President Theodore Roosevelt paid her salary and rerouted the town's mail 30 miles away until her position was restored.
