How it felt this morning shoveling snow.

30 years ago, I saw my favorite Phish show. It was also the coldest I ever felt while standing outside waiting for the doors to open.

54 years ago, the Dead played the second of four nights at the Felt Forum, which is now known as the Hulu Theater. I prefer the old name. For this tour, Warner Brothers sponsored a number of live-radio broadcasts. This is the WNEW broadcast. #Deadheads

Baby, it’s cold outside, but this show from 54 years ago is hotter than Georgia asphalt. Lots of Pigpen on here, including the first version of Run Rudolph Run. #Deadheads

No Spotify wrap for me, but I probably played about 2,000 hours of the Dead on Relisten.

I just administered a big history test to my sixth graders. I was pretty worried about how they would do. Class average was a 92. Lowest score was an 82. I’m calling it a success.

100 days!

In 2024, I moved a record amount of money from my left pocket to my right pocket.

This was my last Jerry show. It was also the closest I ever got. I wasn’t first row, but maybe second or third and right in front of him. I swear he looked down at me and laughed. #deadheads

34 years ago. This was my first show. I was pretty young and had no idea what was going on. I knew the first Garcia album and I knew Reflections, but I didn’t get any of those songs. I did get an angry Jerry storm off the stage in the middle of the second set because of sound issues. #Deadheads

So, there’s a fella who’s uploading a ton of solo Jerry Garcia to Live Music Archive. Is there an app that connects to and sorts recordings from LMA that has solo Jerry? I tend to use Relisten for LMA stuff and it’s not there. I sent email to Relisten folks asking them to add Jerry. Suggestions?

I’m thrilled to change the clocks this morning. I’m used to getting up while it’s dark, but this past week of sunrise around 7:30 was definitely affecting me. Even knowing the origin was physiological, I felt the effect emotionally. Walking out the door with light at 6:30 put me in a good mood.

This afternoon, I went to my bank to sign papers for a loan. My loan officer was dressed as a witch. “I’m not usually dressed like this,” she told me. Happy Halloween, everyone!

31 years ago, I saw Phish play the White Album. These days, we take for granted the album-cover set, but in that moment it was a bit of a big deal. A year later, I’d be in Chicago for Quadrophenia. The year after that, I was seeing moe.

I’m having a legit Mandela Moment. I recall moe. playing an extra-long show Fall 1998 because of the clock change, and I swear I’ve listened to it, but the recording is not Internet Archive and there’s no record on PhantasyTour. 10/26/98. Did I imagine it?

So, that bearded dude killed it tonight on Jeopardy. But, I’m watching Wheel of Fortune, and I think the challenge of the show is that they won’t show the puzzle and the wheel at the same time.

31 years ago, I saw an interesting show that included the final Midnight Hour and the only Rainy Day Woman, with Dylan as a guest. I don’t listen to a lot of ‘94, by which I mean pretty much never, but this seems like a good way to start the day. #Deadheads

25 years ago, Martin Fierro joined moe. for most of the show. Also joining the band was Victor Krummenacher of Camper Van Beethoven. I was right up against the stage the whole time and it was an odd show to watch. #deadheads

Big day at the post office, picking up a package with three new moe. Instant Live CDs. 30 shows were released in total. Six were later mass produced. The other 24 are tough to find. These are three of the tough ones. With these CDs, I now have 17 of 30, with another one coming next week.

For some reason, this resonates with me.

Not the anniversary of this show, but I listened to it last night and it’s something special. Moon People gets pretty heavy and Five B4 Funk goes into some pretty interesting spaces. This lineup of Steve Kimock Band with Mitch Stein, Rodney Holmes, and Alphonso Johnson is my favorite.
