Apparently I kept one of the buggy builds from when I was making my Mario Bros. (NES) disassembly, aptly named "MarioBrosDis_Bump and your doomed.nes".

heres an irregular gaming update. I beat Mr. Nutz SNES. I didn't really like it. The music is good and the graphics are decent, but the gameplay is brought down by trial and error and frustrating enemy placements and odd collision. I've been a bit more motivated to work on the disassembly of that mystery game (especially since I got through some boring stuff), delving into its scripting revealed more debug leftovers and a few oddities. Fun stuff.

oh yeah, it's Playstation 2's 25th anniversary (in the US). The latest PS2 game I played was Killzone, and I enjoyed it. It's a bit clunky with uneven difficulty, but I had a good time. the guns feel nice enough, and the visuals are good.

One of the ways I come up with custom levels for super mario world is by listening to custom music. Fun music can inspire the setting or gimmicks or what have you.

kinda wish I had buddies who liked rune factory as much as I do, so i could compla- err, discuss Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma and other games.

I just now realized Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma's fatal flaw. There's actually not a whole lot to do if you think about it. The farming takes care of itself with villagers, doing generic ema plaques isn't very engaging, and there's little gratification in doing combat or fishing on its own.

You know what they say, love is blind. Which means it can overlook the egregious sense of humor.

What is your definition of "retro"? Are Gamecube and its games retro? Is Nintendo DS retro? Xbox 360? Or do you think only the ancient Atari Jaguar and NES games are retro?

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole for Nintendo DS was one of the most average gaming experiences I had. It's an interesting blend of flight sim and RPG mechanics, but the game is fairly repetitive, and the combat is quite basic. It's kind of ambitious for a licensed game, but falls flat.

I am happy to report that you can, in fact, cook Ratatouille in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.

I have no idea why there's a name filter in new Rune Factory games (5 and Guardians of Azuma). These are single player games, who cares what you name your animals and stuff. You can't name a chicken "cock", such a crime.

I remember watching Spirited Away as a kid and I thought it was creepy and gross. How Chihiro's parents turned into pigs and that black masked... thing. I'm sure I would appreciate it more as an adult and it's not a bad movie. Just didn't have a good impression of it before.

I might try out Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, since the titular Sakuna is a part of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma via a free DLC, and I just so happen to have the game in my Steam library. Does that mean Sakuna is officially a part of Rune Factory lore?!?! No, it is just a collab DLC.

I am liking Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, but it feels like it lost a bit of Rune Factory identity. There's a solid argument to be made that it's not even a Rune Factory game, due to how different it feels. Not that it's a bad thing mind you, but makes you think.

The Smurfs movies don't have to suck. If The Smurfs license can produce good games like The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf, surely there are people competent enough to make good movies out of the franchise. Maybe I'm talking out of my donkey because these are different mediums, but still.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is on sale again, but it didn't go lower. I decided to give in and finally purchase it. I think I've been a good patient boy and can finally enjoy it. Especially since I just finished completing Rune Factory 5.

it would've been pretty interesting to have a document or a video that exhaustively compares Game Boy and NES. there are some technical differences, similarities and quirks. There are certain things that the Game Boy is better at compared to NES, and vice versa.

I like how Rune Factory 5 is sincere in its romance stories while still peppering them with funnies. Even something as grand as a wedding gets a few chuckles out of me.

finished a script that extracts graphics from the game i'm disassembling, and there's about 175KB graphics in a 512KB ROM. yes, i am disassembling a relatively big game. ambition!
