Today we compared three Swedish varieties of apple and the imported Pink Lady. "Frida" was the best of the four when eaten fresh, "Rubinola" was the best when baked. Pink Lady was very bland at first, but developed when it lay peeled and sliced for a while. Maybe it wasn't fully ripe?

I managed to take a photo of the underside without having to break it. With these two photos together the app suggests Trametes hirsuta with a 44% confidence, which is still quite low. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it grows or changes. Yes the sky is really blue today 😊 #FungiFriends

This morning I went and checked on the swans I mentioned yesterday. Some skaters came too close so they lifted off and flew to another part of the lake. I assume they'll move to some bigger lake with open water if they get too hungry. The weather was nice, with a bit of morning haze. #Stunday

Two mute swans have arrived at the lake, which is still frozen. I saw someone trying to feed them, so I went back home and got some bird feed and hot water to make a hollow in the ice so they can get wet food. I hope I did the right thing. Photo taken before I saw the swans.
