I'll still be around on here. With five weeks or so before Selection Sunday, it makes sense to set up some sort of site/blog for bracket breakdowns. Open to suggestions on what is best on that front these days. (Open to suggestions on a lot of fronts these days).

Simply crushed today for so many amazing and talented people at @postsports.bsky.social. Felt really fortunate to even be a part-time/occasional teammate there for the last decade.

MLB dot com will staff every beat, though use a (well-qualified) stringer for roughly 40% of road games. A look at teams with *zero* or one non-MLB beat outlet: WAS MIA MIL ARI COL TB CLE KC SEA SAC/LV. Many others come close to qualifying.

All the smart newspaper execs left for real jobs that pay better a long time ago. Unlike the actual act of journalism, there’s nothing fulfilling in it. All that’s left is people who suck. If they ran a funeral parlor, no one would die.

I was literally told, “It doesn’t matter how much money we made off State’s run, you guys spent too much.” Absolutely no sense of perspective or growth or priorities other than “number go down.” The same kind of people are now flying the Post into a mountain.

Context on the Post absurdity: I learned this first-hand after NC State went to the Final Four. Newspaper execs can no longer process what actually generates revenue/readers/clicks/subscriptions. They only see what things cost. Sports is expensive … even if investment in sports pays back tenfold.

Worth noting, Buzz Williams' buyout after *next* season would be $20.6M. Maryland has never ponied up a coaching buyout of more than $5.5M --- and might end up dealing with a change in football by year's end, a complicating variable. Lot$ of reason$ to doubt next season is make-or-break for Buzz.
