Watching Alto Knights and delighted to see De Niro doing a Joe Pesci impersonation.

First two-thirds of Avatar: Fire and Ash were really compelling with a surprising amount of emotional depth. By the end of the second act, we have a setup for the finale, a new location, and what seemed like a clear narrative throughline for the characters... but it's all then pushed aside.

Gotta say, the Avatar effects team did a great job with the David Thewlis Na'vi. As soon as his face comes on screen, you know it's him.

Die Hard is a Christmas film because it's the only time of the year that my wife and I have the space to sit down and watch it.

Home Alone tonight - two observations. Firstly they should have just used the Angels with Filthy Souls gag just once and the John Candy funeral parlour story should have come in before the house is raided. It's a great scene but sort of shoved into the final moments taking away some of the emotion.

Really enjoyed episode 2. I'm not sure if this can work as a long form series, but I am appreciating the Isaac Asimov method of presenting a scenario with set rules and then testing that scenario to the extreme.

Watched the first episode of Pluribus, and I'm pretty sure a lab like that would have more safeguards.

On a positive note for cinemas, it's clear the streaming model only works for Netflix. No one is paying for Paramount+, Disney moved Moana, Alien, Lilo and Stitch and the Mandalorian into cinemas. The studios were too late, and the budget vs. subscribers increase doesn't work.

Kids not understanding why I started laughing during this bit of the latest Famous Five film.
