Knock at the Cabin (2023) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 A good idea with mixed results. The dads are really unlikeable which hurts the film. The strangers are better developed. Dave Bautista gives by far the best performance. A good mystery but so many red herrings turn into loose ends. Needed 1 more rewrite.

Nekromantik 2 (1991) 7/10 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💀💀💀 A clever continuation, turning Robert into a victim of his own fetish. In death, Robert has seemingly found a soul mate, but when Monika starts dating the still-alive Mark, she must choose between them. An exploration of desire with a perfectly insane ending!

Curse of the Demon (1957) 7/10 👹👹👹👹👹👹👹💀💀💀 A man must confront his disbelief of the supernatural after receiving the same curse that killed his colleague days earlier. Niall MacGinnis is charming as the devil-worshipping Karswell. The demon and the effects are great for the 50s. Still holds up.

The Last Horror Film (1982) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 A lot of fun! An aspiring director leaves his job and goes to Cannes to get his favorite actress to be in his first film... by any means necessary. Joe Spinell is creepy and funny. No matter what he does, his passion is endearing. Killer 80s soundtrack.

Messiah of Evil (1974) 6/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀💀 Beautifully shot but lacking in story. The characters and dialogue are bland. It's hard to follow even when little is happening. The lighting and composition of the shots are surreal. There are scenes reminiscent of Lynch and Hitchcock that are very scary.

One last ride, mutants. Let's all show up and give some love to Joe Bob and Darcy. No matter what happens tonight, the drive in will never die! #thelastdrivein

Doctor X (1932) 6/10 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕💀💀💀💀 A weird mystery where a scientist uses wild pseudoscience, not investigation, to catch a deranged serial killer. Fortunately, the killer is also absurd, so it's consistent. The reporter stuff is dull, but Dr. X's hunt for the killer is engaging. Campy B-Movie fun!

The Black Cat (1934) 8/10 🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️💀💀 Lugosi and Karloff shine in this pre-code rollercoaster. It's outlandish and melodramatic but absolutely thrilling. Very taboo themes for the 1930s make it feel modern. 90+ years later, the ending is somehow still one of the most disturbing scenes in horror.

The Day of the Triffids (1963) 5/10 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿💀💀💀💀💀 A weird movie. Most people are suddenly blind, and also there are plant monsters. Feels like two concepts that never really intersect in an interesting way. The triffids still look amazing. The acting is rough and the end is silly. B-movie cheese.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare (2025) 6/10 🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️💀💀💀💀 Surprisingly good! Less funny than other public domain horror adaptations. Peter is genuinely scary, lots of very tense scenes. The acting was mixed but better than I expected. A solid film even without the Peter Pan IP. Solid gore effects.

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 A beautiful and subversive vampire film exploring addiction, vulnerability, and gender. The title and the plot flip the idea of predator and prey in a clever way. Great cinematography emphasizes the characters' loneliness in the bleak town.

Nekromantik (1988) 7/10 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💀💀💀 A disturbing yet beautiful character study. On face value, Robert's actions are just for shock, but the way it explores how his fetishes are intertwined with his trauma is captivating. Transgressive and political, meant to shock but also make you think and feel.

Tarantula (1955) 7/10 🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷💀💀💀 A solid creature feature with some body horror and mad scientist elements. The giant animal effects have aged better than most, with some really clever shots that still hold up. Great pacing. The mutated humans add an interesting mystery to this giant insect flick.

Nightbreed (1990) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 Unbridled creativity and scathing social commentary butchared by studio edits, fixed with the director's cut. All characters, even background ones, are gorgeous. Teaches us to celebrate our differences. Cronenberg is scary as hell. A Clive Barker masterpiece!

Triangle (2009) 7/10 🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢💀💀💀 A solid horror film and a unique take on the time-loop genre. Each loop peels back another layer of what's happening until the end when it all fits together. A good example of trusting the audience's intelligence and not over-explaining, great visual storytelling.

Village of the Damned (1995) 5/10 😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀💀💀 The worst kind of horror remake, lazy. Like the children, it's a bland, soulless imitation. If you'd never seen the original, you could watch this and enjoy it, but it doesn't bring much new to the table and can never match what made the original great.

Children of the Damned (1964) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 Only for people who loved the first film. It does shed a little light on the origin of the mysterious children, which was interesting but unnecessary. The children are less evil, more of a moral tale. A better Iron Maiden song than a horror sequel 🤘

Village of the Damned (1960) 9/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀 Everyone in a small town passes out, and when they wake up, all the women are pregnant. 9 months later, they give birth to creepy kids. It's mysterious and unsettling. George Sanders is excellent. The ending is thrilling. Holds up after almost 70 years!

It Came From Outer Space (1953) 5/10 👽👽👽👽👽💀💀💀💀💀 The alien is the best part of the film. Where most aliens just look like people in makeup or suits, this film imagines something truly out of this world. The plot is slow and the message is muddled, but if you like scifi B movies, you may like it.

The Blob (1988) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 One of the best horror remakes! It modernizes the original for the Reagan era. Great effects make the blob more than just a blob of jello, and there are some gnarly kills. Before Saw, Shawnee Smith was a kick ass final girl. All the characters are well-defined.

American Psycho (2000) 10/10 📼📼📼📼📼📼📼📼📼📼 Just brilliant! The way it uses a serial killer to satarize capitalism, masculinity, and American culture makes this movie unexpectedly hilarious. So many quoteable lines. Still, there are some creepy scenes. Christian Bale is incredible as Patrick Bateman.

Black Phone 2 (2025) 6/10 📞📞📞📞📞📞💀💀💀💀 A flawed but fun sequel to a film that didn't need one. The Grabber is back in a creative way. He's scarier in this one. It can feel too much like Nightmare on Elm Street. I wasn't as invested in the plot as I was for the 1st one. Only for fans of the 1st film.

The Black Phone (2021) 7/10 📞📞📞📞📞📞📞💀💀💀 A solid horror film. The concept of speaking to the victims of a serial killer to find a way to escape is unique and executed well. Gave me Stephen King vibes. Mason Thames is a good lead. The Grabber is scary, Hawke is great, though maybe underdeveloped.

My Bloody Valentine (2009) 5/10 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💀💀💀💀💀 A good remake spoiled by a bizarre ending and a dated emphasis on 3D effects. Still, the kills are satisfying and Harry Warden looks great. Captures the setting of a struggling coal town in a modern way. Tom Atkins is always a plus. Happy Valentine's Day!

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 My favorite of the series! Everything that defines a Friday the 13th film clicks. The characters are relateable, the kills are great. Introduces Tommy Jarvis, my favorite portrayal of him. Jason is grounded but scary. Happy Friday the 13th!

Def by Temptation (1990) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 A succubus is loose in NYC and she has her sights set on Joel, an aspiring minister who is beginning to question his faith. A great setup executed well and shot beautifully. James Bond III wrote, directed, and starred in this film. Wish he did more movies.

Don't Breathe 2 (2021) 4/10 🤫🤫🤫🤫💀💀💀💀💀💀 The sequel shifts perspectives and follows Norman as he takes down a crew of organ trafficking meth cooks, a ridiculous story that feels more like a John Wick Caine spinoff than a sequel. I wish it had followed Rocky from where we left off in the first film.

Don't Breathe (2016) 8/10 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫💀💀 A reverse home invasion where the homeowner picks off the burglars one by one. Stephen Lang is incredible, giving sympathy to an evil man. Jane Levy is also great, an underrated final girl. That one scene... so twisted, I'll never forget seeing it in theaters.

House on Haunted Hill (1959) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 Like a haunted house, campy and fun. More spooky than scary, but with just enough frights to keep it fresh 60 years later. Vincent Price is delightfully wicked as the host of this outrageous party. A film I find myself coming back to every now and then.

The Innkeepers (2011) 6/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀💀 Strong performances, great atmosphere, and rising tension that ultimately builds to... not much. Improves on a second watch, knowing the ending changes your perspective on earlier events. Likeable characters and a fun concept held back by a half-baked plot.

Saw X (2023) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 The best thing about this prequel is it's the only film from John Kramer's POV. No big revelations, but Bell is great as always. The victims are terrible. The traps fall into the trope where they suffer but die anyway. A safe entry that plays the hits Saw fans love.

Spiral (2021) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 The one that finally let go of John Kramer. After Jigsaw, this could have been the start of a series of copycat Jigsaw Killers like Scream, a direction I would have preferred. The traps go back to basics. The plot worked but the killer was obvious. Under appreciated.

Jigsaw (2017) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 10 years after killing John Kramer, Saw is back. Solid traps throughout. The plot twist and the way it plays with time/editing feels a little too convenient, like it was meant for us and not the characters. A solid entry that couldn't quite jumpstart a dead franchise.

Saw 3D (2010) 2/10 😱😱💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 A disappointing conclusion to the main Saw series. Everything looks cheap, even the blood looks pink. Bad 3D effects. It wastes time introducing new characters then rushes the Hoffman and Tuck storyline. The twist ending tied it all up nicely, but not worth it.

Saw 6 (2009) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 A brutal condemnation of the US's for-profit healthcare system that failed John Kramer. Jigsaw is labeled the serial killer even though he's killed fewer people than the insurance exec. Meanwhile Hoffman scrambles to coverup his crimes as the walls close in. Thrilling!

Saw 5 (2008) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 A lot of Strahm investigating Hoffman and Hoffman setting up Strahm. It doesn't move the plot forward, but it provides insight into Hoffman's motivations and methods. I actually really like him as a villain. The games are fun, but totally removed from the main story.

Saw 4 (2007) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 A messy transition from Saw 3. Introduces series staples like Strahm, Hoffman, and Perez. Starts the trend where people fail their games despite suffering - more gore but cheapens the story. Rigg's storyline is pretty weak. Ties up some loose ends from earlier films.

Saw 3 (2006) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 A thrilling ending to the original Saw trilogy! Two engaging stories about forgiveness and compassion running parallel until they meet for a shocking ending. Shawnee Smith is great, you see why bringing back Amanda was a smart move. My favorite of the series!

Saw 2 (2005) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 The traps and victims are weaker than the first, but there is still fun to be had with that storyline. Tobin Bell's performance is what makes this movie. So many iconic lines that sum up his character. In Saw we got to know Jigsaw. In Saw 2 we got to know John Kramer.

Saw (2004) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 Thrilling dual narratives of detectives chasing a serial killer and his latest victims trying to survive their "game". Jigsaw's traps were a refreshing concept after decades dominated by slashers. You really root for the victims' survival. Mixed acting, great ending.

In the Mouth of Madness (1994) 9/10 📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚💀 Has one of the best movie endings. Sam Neill is great as John Trent, a man trying to stay sane as his investigation leads him down a Lovecraftian rabbit hole. The way it breaks the 4th wall is genius and terrifying. Sutter Cane is a great villain.

Prince of Darkness (1987) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 A unique blend of science and religion. A priest and a scientist join forces to tackle an apocolyptic supernatural entity. The jokes don't land and it can feel like two different movies, but the scary imagery and cosmic horror make it worth checking out.

The Thing (1982) 10/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 One of the best horror films! Mind-blowing effects, tense atmosphere, and a great script. A film about paranoia that still has viewers pointing fingers 40 years later. The score is minimal but effective. The group dynamics under pressure feel so real. A must-see!

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) 10/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 The best of the series. Unsettling, beautiful, disturbing, hopeful - an emotional rollercoaster driven by great acting. A lot in common with Day of the Dead. Like any great sequel, it lifts up its predecessor, I can't wait for the next one.

In a world consumed by Rage, it's easy to be a Jimmy. Dr. Kelson always tried to find the light in the darkness and act with compassion. There's a lot we can learn from him. An incredible start for horror in 2026. Will be gathering my thoughts for a full review. #28YearsLater #TheBoneTemple

Suspiria (2018) 9/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀 An incredible reimagining with powerful themes and stunning visuals. Great acting, especially from Tilda Swinton. The twist ending feels out of place but might have worked if Guadagnino had been able to make his planned sequels. A witchy story for the modern era!

Mother of Tears (2007) 7/10 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💀💀💀 Am underrated yet disappointing end to the trilogy. It lacks its predecessors' bold visual style but tells a cohesive story. There are silly plot points that could have been left out. The way Mater Lachrymarum inspires widespread acts of evil is chilling.

Inferno (1980) 7/10 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💀💀💀 Argento's sequel to Suspiria is beautiful and surreal but the plot is too thin. It establishes the lore of the 3 mothers. The characters have little to do other than be killed and investigate eachothers murders. Still, the opening and the ending are both great scenes

Suspiria (1977) 9/10 🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰💀 A gorgeous movie. Argento evokes the supernatural in the hypnotic score and dramatic lighting, making moments between the violence unnerving. Jessica Harper is great. Helena Markos is an intriguing villain. She gets little screentime but her presence is always felt.

Don't Torture a Duckling (1972) 8/10 🐤🐤🐤🐤🐤🐤🐤🐤💀💀 A great giallo! Its depictions of violence against children are still shocking. A winding mystery of clues leading toward several suspects and a wonderful ending as they close in on the killer. Gruesome and psychological. My favorite Fulci film!
