Just locked down all the character packs for the larp I'm running this weekend. Actually done before getting on site, probably a new record!

Well, this UK Supreme Court ruling on trans identification sucks. So, anyone who knows UK law able to advise on what this means for, say, someone who runs a trans-friendly Larp that wants to remain as trans-friendly as possible while still remaining arguably inside the law? Esp re:bathrooms 1-?

A few weeks ago I learned that thorns are specifically a woody outgrowth from the core of a plant, while epidermal outgrowths (like roses) are prickles. Today my brain decided to spotlight this fact for analysis and my first thought was "this is really going to mess up some poets & songwriters".

Second hand copy of Brewers Dictionary of Phrase and Fable (E18) arrived today. It's endlessly fascinating, and surprisingly full of sass in some entries.

Went to see Hundreds of Beavers tonight, and had a great time. It's very surreal, very dumb, very cinema, slightly videogames, and the most I've laughed at a film possibly ever. Strong recommend.

Back on the #boardgamedesign wagon after a bout of COVID. Decided to break out my pre-prototype card game about Victorian-era cultists racing to immanentize their gods. Currently trying to figure out how a "Principle of Connecting/Joining/Securing stuff" translates to a set of card play mechanisms.

One of the things I'm happiest about in Arcs is the degree to which the game's campaign length has resonated with players. I love long games, but have such a hard time seeing a campaign of more than a few sessions through. I don't know if I've ever been so happy to be part of a trend! 🧵

What #ttrpg safety mechanisms (like the X-Card or similar) have you had in games you've run or played? Were they used or invoked at some point once the game was under way? Especially interested in some lesser-known ones!

Royal Mail sale has been approved after gradual enshittification. Staff forced to sell their shares. Expect to see a bunch of sorting office closures, further worsening of the service and things being harder for the small businesses Labour supposed to be supporting. Yay.

Crowdsourcing #ttrpgdesign question! If I was a Skeleton Player Character imbued with grave/tomb-slanted Earth Magic, what would my special powers be? Other than summoning more skeletons or having hands burst from the earth to grab people (I've got those already).

My current main project is a #ttrpg about immortal undead taking apart a build-your-own authoritarian regime, using Quintessence RPG system. So it's Skeletons/Ghosts/Wights Vs Nazis, cathartic leftist filth to the core. Not Vampires though, vampires are a tool of the oppressors. More on this later!

Never having engaged properly with the previous one of these, I shall try better with this one. Will hopefully be posting mostly about various boardgame, Larp and RPG projects!
