I THINK I'm at a point where it's just adjusting encounter rates and exp yields so really I've just got to play my own game and see what levels I end up at certain checkpoints Also saving works now 🙌

So my step counter isn't counting steps? It only counts each time the player's direction changes. I'll fix that next

I'm still struggling to wrap my head around this because it's not just a simple colour swap. If the image is too similar in colour it will just assign two colours as one. Sprites saved with colours 3 and 4 get merged into just 4 ;-;

If I were to make my game in colour mode, I'd have to redo ALL the battle sprites because the background is colour 3, and I leave colour 3 as empty on the sprites to show through. I'd have to change the background to colour 1 and edit all the spites to have that colour missing to show through ;-;

Turns out the calc on the stat I'd use to test the new damage in the game was incorrect and was what a combo calc would look like 😅 had to undo a bunch of changes once I realised haha

I kept going 🧍‍♂️ stat/damage calcs are completely redone. Just need to copy it all for enemy attacks Next update will be big 😅 and to think it was just the next story beat for the longest time. Now it's so much more

I made a whole sprite and then photoshop crashed and I lost it all... What is the point of having auto recovery set up if it doesn't actually save anything?

New enemy idea: Uniquehorns They're unicorns but their horns grow in different ways that dictate that combat style. Sharp, slashing horn for melee, Thick, bludgeoning horn for body, Thin, casting horn for magic, Tiny horn for stealth, How do I represent ranged as a horn?????

What's funny is I put a sign at the current end point of MoN to say "that's everything so far" and I just realised because I never finished the cave for that release, I didn't add the triggers to go through it meaning no one can actually get to the sign haha Anyway I finished the cave

I added sound effects to the player's attacks, that's 15 different sound effects, and then when you combo attacks it will play the effect for the first and then the second move and it sounds so good!!

Found some sound effects packs 👀 I think the next update will have sound effects added for various things. I think attack types having different sounds will help differentiate and identify types

I want to add another sort of level to stats. Like if you get magic to a certain level it unlocks another tier which changes the attack description and makes it more powerful than just your magic stat. Or maybe after certain story beats you unlock this next tier through training with that character

I realised I had stat obstacles for Melee, Body, and Magic but not for Stealth and Ranged Melee is slicing a dead tree Body is squeezing past thorny vines Magic is dispelling crystals Stealth is disarming a trip wire Ranged is shooting a target to knock it down

I put a copy of MoN in it's current state on my flash cart and timed a playthrough. It's currently 35 minutes long! I accidentally had a variable set to 0 for testing so I got to that spot and couldn't progress haha. But I doubt there was any more than 5 minutes of content past that. All fixed now

MoN developement has slowed down a whole lot because I've been putting eggs in other baskets, but I am still committed to making my game :) I have been slowly working on a cave/dungeon at the least

I was having trouble making the branching paths reconnect without back tracking and still get to experience those story beats I can just have it loop around and not start with location triggers, but talking to certain NPCs. That way it doesn't matter what direction you enter the area from 😅 simple

I've been reading Dragon Ball and I'm upto the 22nd Tenka-Ichi Budoukai and I think haikyuuken is my favourite move. I never knew where it came from, but I used it a lot as one of Bicki's moves in Xenoverse 2

Did a bit of an overhaul to the caves and noticed the earlier areas in the game are more square than the recent ones. Apparently I've improved in making the scenes look more natural and I need to go back and fix that like with the caves.

What if I made a secret itch page with new MoN chapters? There's like 3 chapters now. They're super short, more like pages, but still. It'd be nice to show people

Anyone in the GBStudio space know how to make a title pop up when entering a scene but only from certain scenes? Like with an RPG I want it to show up when you enter the town, but not when you exit a house in said town

I wanted to add some influence from my childhood growing up in a coastal city. My game doesn't have like bushland, but the forest creeps up close to the beach and there's grass there too and it gives a very similar vibe to our beaches!

I don't know what to call each segment of my game? Like is each little questline a chapter? An episode? Chapter makes it sound like they'd be longer. Maybe I need more going on in each location?

I accidentally lead this quest line in the direction where a scene isn't made yet. I really am making this up as I go
