Having a sense of dread every time you are pinged with a news notification is a rough way to go through life.

Some day we will get out of this mess but it’s gonna take so much work.

Online world is so radically different than the “real world” but I’m afraid a lot of really online people can’t acknowledge that and it’s making its way into that “real world.”

Another day and students continue to be the best part of the job.

On a daily basis, I marvel at how many people in putative positions of power are willing to help obliterate American democracy. The US has faced a series of very easy moral tests in the past decade and it’s staggering how often people in once-respected positions have failed.

Much easier to destroy than to build.

Just got devastating news that a former student unexpectedly passed away. Such a bright light. Kind, gentle, thoughtful. I’ve lost more than a handful of students over the years and it can definitely feel like losing a member of your extended family. Prayers to his family.
