I went to the last day of an Estate Sale today since everything left was marked down by 50%. The person who passed was a professor and the sale was mostly about his really extensive library of books. In his back shed I found this, a mounting bracket that will allow me to add a motor to my canoe!

SmartWatch died. I never felt it was worth the cost, I really only used it as a watch. Found my old Suunto Observer, battery was dead, watch band and one of the band pins were broken. Replaced the battery, ordered a new strap and pins. The user manual for this "stupid" watch is 350 pages long. Sigh

And now I'm just finding out that anchos are smoked poblanos. Fuck. I really thought they were different.

A thing I have recently learned is that chipotle peppers are jalapenos that have just been smoked to dry. I'll be planting and smoking my own chipotle peppers soon!

Driving into #Fredericton and we could see where the rain begins. As we crossed that line, we drove into a small rainstorm. It was a cool and unique experience.

Tonight I'm in the kitchen! Whole chicken, roasted with pomegranate, preserved lemon, and fresh rosemary. I'll baste it every 20 minutes until it's cooked. Then I will coat it with honey and then crust it with my homemade dukkah. What you got cooking?🍽️🍜

I made dukkah! I highly recommend this. It's an easy recipe, makes a great, healthy snack and can be used to crust meat or vegetables to add extra flavour and texture. You can even make it your own based on preferred nuts, seeds, and spices. youtu.be/smh8JuacFxs?...

I couldn't find a nice looking chicken so the roasted chicken is on hold. I did buy a variety of nuts and seeds so I'll still make the dukkah. Shana made some amazing naan bread, and I'm looking forward to a snack of naan bread, dipped in olive oil, then dipped in the dukkah. 🍽️🍜

I had my last piano lesson today with my cousin! It was such a positive experience for me. I learned the fundamentals and some theory. I'm way more confident in my playing and I can hear the improvement. I also got to spend time with a family member I didn't know well and am so grateful for that.

We bought a potjie, pronounced poi-kee. It's a South African cast iron cooking cauldron. It's used to make potjiekos, a small pot meal. This pot is a size 3 which means if you fill it to the first ring it will feed 3 people. Second ring will feed 6, etc.

Was a weird day today. My niece graduated with her BA so I waived the fee and let them have the taproom for her grad celebration. Saw family that haven't seen or spoken to me in almost a decade. Last time I saw most of them was at Mom's funeral. Lots of surprised relatives to see me in the room.

A good friend of mine gifted me an accordion today! I have no idea how to play one. Before today, I had never even touched one. I never turn down free musical instruments.
