My favourite of my recent designs and the most fun to do. The restrictions of #gender and categories of #sexualorientation are put on us all, and being #queer is the resulting marginalisation, without which #lgbtpride wouldn’t exist. #bodilyautonomy and #freedomofassociation are not too much to ask.

I don’t make a lot of #vibrant art but was drawing with friends from memory. Couldn’t photograph the colours when I’d seen it in person, but the turquoise and orange reflection mix made each colour brighter. My impression with crayons didn’t do it justice, believe me it looked great. #BlueskyArtShow

Was recently having a drink outside and when I lifted up my beer to finish it I enjoyed the way the evening sun lit up the golden colours, so I tried to take a photo. The picture has a certain familiar feeling for me. Thought it might make a contribution to today’s #blueskyartshow theme #vibrant

My last contribution to #blueskyartshow for the theme #lightandshadow Bleach on black fabric is a medium particularly well suited to subjects that are bright in the middle of the dark and I particularly like painting anything that’s glowing like this.

I paint a lot of #lightandshadow themed images as my paintings are often surrounded by darkness and so get more shadowy on the edges, so this is my second contribution to this week’s #blueskyartshow This one is quite a classic subject when it comes to things lit up in the middle of the dark. #spooky

The theme of this week’s #Blueskyartshow is #Texture so originally I just wanted to show you this close up of my work because real chanterelles have a cool texture. Then I saw that in one photo the fabric texture is also visible. I enjoy being able to see the individual stitches.

This week’s theme at #BlueskyArtShow is #lines. I originally designed these for Halloween but they’ve became an all year round thing and more popular than anything else I’ve done. Every week I’m painting lines, it’s got quite calming in its repetition.

Also want to share these cityscape #silhouette designs at the #BlueskyArtShow. Did a layered one as I’d been thinking about how things further away are more sky-coloured. And one with a wider variety of buildings for which I spent an embarrassing amount of time considering typical city planning.

I rarely draw people but loved doing this Oct ‘23. I’d heard too many recent complaints about single cat ladies. I love her, her cat companion, her independence, her knowledge of home remedies, etc. Flying broomstick is just for show. Sharing her today since the #BlueskyArtShow theme is #silhouette.

After my posts yesterday I kept thinking about the shape of the ocean waves. While falling asleep ~1am I drew this in my notes app. I still get what I meant here. If any other artists out there are wondering what the sea looks like though, I’ve cracked it, while half asleep even. You’re welcome.

I try to paint water from my memory of it, so when I get to see it in person I’m stuck staring, trying to understand what it looks like.

For a midday #sunlight feeling I have to think of this painting I did years ago when I was stuck inside and yearning for a walk. I appreciate the reminder #blueskyartshow, it’s how I want a walk in the sun to feel and it cheers me up looking at it.

I happened to be lucky enough to see a lot of #sunlight today including this view just before the sun disappeared behind the horizon. Also took a photo 5 minutes later of the sunlight, after it’s source was gone. I paint scenes inspired by this, was great to see it for real again. #blueskyartshow

It’s Bluesky’s weekly art party again. This week the theme of #blueskyartshow is #windows. I can’t find any art I’ve done with windows in, but I have been known to actually paint windows themselves before, so here are some contributions.

Seeing everyone post their photos of flowers for the #spring theme of #blueskyartshow has reminded me that I saw some Skips a couple days ago on the side of the road.

The Miracle of Spring We glibly talk of nature's laws but do things have a natural cause? Black earth turned into yellow crocus is undiluted hocus-pocus (The photo reminded me of this grook I learnt as a kid. I thought if science even looks like magic to Piet Hein then I don’t feel so silly.)

The theme this week at #BlueskyArtShow is #Spring, so here are some daffodils. I also did a version with some inexpertly hidden festive eggs for April. The daffodils are well on their way here, I saw some that were almost blooming.

In 1933 the German impressionist, Max Liebermann, said “Ich kann gar nicht soviel fressen, wie ich kotzen möchte” which I was reminded of today. Roughly translated “I can’t even eat the amount that I would like to vomit”. Maybe not the most beautiful thing I’ve done, but an expression of a feeling.

Maybe one day I’ll learn how to take photos of my drawings and paintings. I thought the more light the better but just looked at the thumbnails and realised that “washed out” is not a good look for art that is mainly black or dark. Please learn from my mistakes. #artshare #bskyart #alwayslearning

Can’t believe I missed the #BlueskyArtShow on Saturday when the theme was #Monochrome, the majority of what I paint or sketch currently fits that. There were some really beautiful contributions, check them out. This week the theme is “Abandoned” so you’ve still got days to think about it.
