today's recommendation: @libraryatnight.bsky.social 's DARK ARCHIVES, a history of books bound in human skin. Not a grisly wannabe-shocker catalogue but an EXTREMELY accessible work on material culture and the medicalization of race and criminality

we love backlist, books that play with genre conventions, and characters who constantly reassess the things they owe to others so we love Rosemary Kirstein's THE STEERSWOMAN. the "Big Twist" is that it's seemingly-fantasy then actually SF, but what *i* love about it... bookshop.org/a/105152/978...
