So yeah. What if we started from the theorem that everyone's humanity, safety, liberation matters, everyone who lives in the region deserves to flourish and thrive? If we started there, instead of FIGHTING OVER CAKE, where could we get to? It's the only path. Ever. Morally and practically.

(And yes, repentance and repair work, obviously. But bottom line emergency work is getting everyone SAFE and coming up with a path forward that secures everyone's LIBERATION and FUTURE.)

And instead of playing the "who was here first" "no but who was REALLY here first" game (working out great as it is) perhaps we can all acknowledge that 11 million people in a region have no other home RIGHT NOW and ALL OF THEM deserve to be safe and free and to thrive, and let's worry about THAT.

One unexpected thing in my qualitative study w natural scientists (one-hour interviews) is how deeply, deeply sad the climate scientists are. They say things like "you have enough information from us, why won't anyone act?" -- the psychological distress these people are enduring is very great.
