Good news: the mid terms resulted in Our Party winning both houses of Congress! Bad news - Korea War 2 has started!

Madam Secretary! We have questions!

The Middle East is again the center of attention

We passed a comprehensive gun bill! We have banned assault weapons, but replaced them with halberds!

And China’s bratty neighbor, Bad Korea, is rattling the saber. I will protect BTS at all costs!

China is about to…erupt.

Shakeup in the White House! Chief of Staff Andy Lewis really grew into his position, and we asked for the resignation of our Secretary of State to bring in Kim Richards!

As the second year begins, Nelson the Cat has been nominated as the new head of the Secret Service. The Senate approved him with a 97-3 vote!

As the first year of the Beans Administration comes to an end, we have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize! Good then we ended that war when we did.

The war against Nondescriptistan is over, and we enjoy a bit of a bump in the polls! And a former POTUS (one of the decent ones) convinced Rep. Malachi Taylor of Michigan to support my legislation!

Allies to the rescue! Australia stabilizes the region, Israel (for once) lowers tensions with the region and Central African rebellions are stopped!

…and thanks to some clever maneuvering by my chief of staff, Rep. Sara Riley of Colorado has become a proxy in Congress. She steered through a Trade Agreement in East Asia while we hit a terror group in Pakistan.

I needed to shore up support, so I bit the bullet and signed the Other Party’s Social Security bill - well, *law* now. Sorry Grandma, enjoy the ramen!

…and good luck with that. The Andy Warhol Bridge collapses, Congress hates me, and Rep. Nieto is distancing herself from me. Things are bleak.

Uh-oh, their turn. A new Chinese base in the South China Sea, and about to build ones in the Middle East and Mozambique. Congress is livid. We’re getting joked about on podcasts. Time to get tough…

We sign a trade deal with Russia in return for them negotiating a cease fire in is Uzbek Civil War.

Bad Korea improves their nuke capabilities - and I will NOT be sending Dennis Rodman to negotiate. But the British did help stabilize Portugal and locate the Deutsche Bank Bombers, so that helps.

Well, a terror strike in the US has resulted in some unwanted jerks that I need to deal with.

Oh no! The mortgage security bubble bursts (again? AGAIN!)! FWIW, Margin Call and The Big Shirt are both great movies.

Back in Congress, the Other Party proposed their version of Social Security reform - which would doubtlessly result in Grandma having to hunt rabbits and sell blood to survive. Contact your Congressman’s office to stop this bill!

…and it hits the fan. Floods hit Memphis and St. Louis, Neo-Bad Guys bomb Deutsche Bank, and Portugal is on the edge of collapse. We shore things up with a trip to visit deployed troops.

…and Russia launched a cyber attack on our economy, but backed down to keep from suffering more Sanctions. @gmtgames.bsky.social, I’m blaming you if Putin acts up again!

Meanwhile, my SecState fails at creating a Trade Deal in Asia, but my SecDef launched a Cyber Attack on the rogue state we’re at war with. But, Russia prepares to act:

Our first action as president is to hold a summit with China and talk them down. We improve relations and jointly push for a ceasefire to the newest Syrian Civil War. They want a high price: expanded influence and economic deals. We agree, relations improve greatly and public approval skyrockets.

…and what problems did my Orange predecessor leave me? China launching a cyber attack on Australia and building an island, while Civil War erupts in Honduras! Thanks a lot, diaper boy.

The world situation is…complex. We have to improve relationships, thwart Chinese and Russian influence, keep allies happy and help break up rouge states. Oh, and we’re at war in Central Asia.

So, Russia and China are also involved. If the gain too much influence in the world, we lose. If they escalate anything to nuclear war, we lose. They take more actions with a bigger economy or if they have a poor relationship with the US - which we can fix by helping their economies 😒

In Congress: I’m supported by Sen. Tom Isao of Hawai’i and Rep. Milana Tome of New Jersey, and opposed by Sen. Doug Tate of Missouri and Rep. Dora Nieto of Florida. They’re are radicals, so bipartisanship is gonna be hard. Also, the public wants SS and Tax reform!

The situation in the White House at the start of the game: the President is efficient and focused on domestic matters, has a great Chief of staff, SecTreas and SecDef - but the VP and SecState are mid. A pretty hawkish bunch, too. Hopefully that doesn’t get me in too much trouble.

…and here are the boards for Mr. President! Daunting, I know. To the left are the conflict tracks, the congressional areas (where laws get passed) and executive branch tracks. The right, the world map and all of its problems. This game is a worse table hog than Ark Nova - fortunately, it’s Solo!

Just to give you an idea of the scale of this game: these are all of the presence books in the game (the ones in the left column aren’t referred to much - the rest are used constantly during the game).

So boom: Since TikTok is about to go dark AND what’s-his-ass is going to be President again, there’s going to be some understandable depression going around. We’ll combat that with our OWN administration! We’re playing the GOAT of solo games - GMT’s Mr. President!

Swear to GOD that the most time consuming thing about this game is the people coming up saying how time-consuming it is.
