Was talking to someone recently about anti-corporate messaging in Fight Club, American Beauty, Office Space, and The Matrix. Now there’s a weird affinity for big business. Even stranger for a post-2008/post-OWS culture. I guess the boot looks tasty after it’s been on your throat long enough.

Very disappointing movie this week. Biker revenge flick Bury Me An Angel promises a lot and fulfills nothing.

It’s so weird how supporting LGBT people automatically causes middle-aged white guys on heart pills to start sweating and screaming about dicks and public anal sex.

As part of my yearlong project where I write about genre movies continues, I wrote about 1985 porno Blue Ice. It’s a neo-noir about a group of Nazis trying to take over the world by sexually controlling women. Crazy, right?

Wrote about American Ninja for My Year of Trash this week. It ends up being kind of a brief tangent about American values.

There are people who suggest there will be a lot of great art during an authoritarian regime. I offer this counterpoint: that’s not true.

Current personal project is to watch a genre film from the 60s-80s every week this year and write about the viewing experience.
