Ok, I've only a small select group of followers on here, so here's a little piece of breaking news about my garden model railway. Important enough to break my code of only posting B&W images. This is quite a monumental event. The first rails were laid on this line on 02.02.2002. End of an era.

Back in Sibiu. I do love my time here. Even when it's raining.

Wow! The Awdry Extravaganza on the Talyllyn Railway really has to be seen to be believed. Seventy seven trains over three days, and every one filled with joyful passengers. That's quite a gala, and quite a challenge for the volunteers, staff, supporters and organisers to pull off. Well done!

Not much going on here these days. It seems to be fading away. Meanwhile, here's No.3 crossing Dolgoch Viaduct on a very blustery day.

So,I built a log store out of some fence panels which I'd taken down some thirty odd years ago, and a few other bits and pieces that I'd subsequently stacked up in the barn in the "that'll be useful some day" pile. Just to prove that they have indeed eventually become useful. Pleased now!

"No Trains Today." My 'get-up-and-go' appears to have got up and gone and has left me behind. Let's see if I can manage a few days of doing absolutely nothing and not feel guilty about it.

It was quite literally raining stair rods up at Abergynolwyn today as a cloudburst greeted an afternoon Footplate Experience Train chuffing its way up the line. #Talyllyn Railway.

Rails in the Grass. There's two little long term pet projects of mine, both of which may actually come to fruition this autumn. One is 120 miles away, the other is 1542 miles away. I need to be driving both of them though to make them happen. The easy one is the closer of the two, but maybe too easy

Afternoon steam up after a few hours of somewhat overdue routine maintenance.

I've been tasked with creating a plan to sort out this level crossing. The railway is currently disused, but we plan to restore it. Trouble is, this is not just a very busy road crossing, there are NATO military convoys, including tank transporters, crossing here six day a week. I'm out of my depth.

And so a busy week in Sibiu, Romania comes to a close. A long weekend snooze is in order methinks.

My three weeks of volunteering out here in Romania comes to a close today and I fly back to Old Blighty. It's been an absolute blast and I'm completely knackered. I do so enjoy spending my time here. Cheerio! I'll be back soon!

The intention is that we will be running passenger trains along here within a couple of years. Within one, if at all possible. Now, I do enjoy a challenge,but.... Well, we'll give it a go!

Tram out to grass. Rasinari, Romania. I was lucky enough to travel this line between Sibiu and Rasinari a few years ago. Sadly it appears to be a bigger task to rescue than the local enthusiasts can meet. But, never say never!

It's a tad cold outside today, so while I'm doing battle with an unpleasantly persistent winter bug, here's a piccie taken in the garden some years ago.

My first steam up of the New Year. I must admit that I'm slightly disappointed that the frost didn't linger very long this morning, and even more disappointed that there isn't any snow. (Yet????)

Hapy New Year one and all! I have to say that Marc Almond covering a Val Doonican track on Jools Holland's Hootenanny was my first surprise of 2025. I wonder what awaits us around the corner....

It's quiet around here. Seems even quieter than when I first arrived. Anyway I was enjoying steam in the snow, especially when it's followed by a glass of something while sitting by a crackling log fire. Seasons greetings to one and all.
