Do you think the Game Awards should have provided more of an advanced warning about the graphical nature of the Divinity trailer?

I honestly don't think much has changed: Tomodachi Life is about to come back; Wario Ware had an entry in 2021; Mario Odyssey and Wonder are perhaps the strangest Mario games; 1, 2 Switch and Everybody 1, 2 Switch are totally strange; BotW and TotK are packed with oddities.

Geoff Keighley doing more to keep The Muppets relevant than Disney ever did, and that's a fucking shame.

I attribute this largely due to people--like myself--waiting to get this on Switch 2, and haven't picked up the console yet. I also think the long development and minor controversies have made some consumers cautious, while Dread was more of a surprise, and came out quickly after its reveal.

Red Dead Redemption 1 on PS5 is more beautiful than ever, but the much greater draw distance and crystal clear visuals does break immersion somewhat. That PS3/360 pixel grain really added to the old timey feel. Also, now nighttime and stormy weather is way too clean and bright to feel threatening.

This is the best we can expect from major studios. You and I both know that they will utilize AI in some form. We must concretely define for ourselves what these "appropriate use cases" are, and be willing to stand up and use our voices (and wallets) when studios overstep those boundaries.

As a Kentuckian, it always tickles me that video games oversimplify the months of hard, consistent work it takes to break in a horse, and reduce it to a 30 second mini game.

It can be done--Lightning Returns and Last Ranker are good examples--but limiting to a party of one calls for specific strategization, and usually removes characters that could drive the plot. This is of course ignoring action RPGs, which many tend to star a single party member.

Game #18 Completed in 2025: Tomorrow Never Dies! Went to just get some footage for a future video, and ended up doing the whole thing. Hadn't played this in 20 years. It's clunky as hell now, and aged even worse than GoldenEye, but still a competent third person shooter for the time.

I got this GameStop Holiday Gift Guide in the mail yesterday. I like the concept. It's nostalgic, and feels like a piece of history. The BIG problem? There are no prices for anything. Nada. I know these games exist, but you can't tell me the prices for at least Black Friday week?

Pastor Mark never sunk 1,000 hours into Animal Crossing, ensuring every square foot of his island was perfect, and it shows.

I probably won't play it, but this multi-player at least looks very different from what else is out that, and feels to harness Kojima's creativity and wacky humor that made Metal Gear such a memorable franchise. It's making me hopeful for what this team can do with a future, original entry.

With Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 having recently come out, it had me thinking about how fun a game inspired by The Lost Boys could be. Imagine an action centered title with urban vampires engaging in gang warfare under the backdrop of 1980's visuals, music, grime, and grit.

Game #16 completed in 2025: Fallout 76! As a MMORPG, this game doesn't ever really end, but I'm considering it finished anyway. Sue me. When I first played this upon release in 2018, I hated it. It lacked the personality that had come to define the Fallout series.

Game #15 completed in 2025: Unicorn Overlord! I played this off-and-on for the past few months. It initially gripped me, as this strategy RPG plays a lot like Ogre Battle 64--one of my favorite games of the 90s--combined with elements from the Fire Emblem series. I was loving it.

Fighting that third boss in Silent Hill f on Lost in the Fog difficulty gave me serious Ornstein and Smough flashbacks in terms of the amount of BS I had to put up with. Easily to most irritating thing I've done gaming-wise this year. At least it's over.

Xbox has realized that they've lost the "everyman" appeal, and only the utmost devoted fans are anticipating the next console.

Tutorials in Pokémon games should be completely optional. I understand that the franchise is geared towards players of all types, but they seriously need to stop treating each entry like "baby's first game."

Game #14 Completed in 2025: Silent Hill f! Silent Hill is among my favorite franchises, and this title ranks high amongst other entries in the series. Although taking place in a new setting and time period, there is no mistaking this as anything else other than a "Silent Hill" game.

For a second I thought the kids running out of the theater in the beginning of the new Peanuts game trailer had massive holes in their heads. I've been playing too much Silent Hill.

There are moments in Silent Hill f that I feel are as hard as most Dark Souls sections, but much more frustrating and clunky. It may be because I'm playing on "Hard" (I really don't want to drop down to "Story Mode") but there are some insane difficulty spikes, and not in a good way.

The language of non-consent around AI is really telling. "It's too late to be scared." "It's here whether we want it or not." "You'll have to learn to work with it." "You can't fight the inevitable." All just variations of "you're not allowed to say no." Creepy technology made by creepy people.

That first real boss fight in Silent Hill f felt like it wasn't ever going to end.
