Officially want to congratulate J.S. Harman on becoming a finalist for the Aurealis Awards! The Aurealis Awards are Australia's top Speculative Fiction Awards, and to become a finalist, you need to come in the top 6 for your category. This round there were just shy of 800 entrants overall.

Today my youngest goes to school for the first time. This week is filled with errands and appointments I couldn't do across the last 6.5 weeks of school holidays, but in between all that, I'll be working on a developmental edit of "It Was Always You" by MM Forster.

I'm still on Quicksilver, but I'm at 73%. Things have slowed a bit because I've been doing other things... *looks at WoW* I'd love to get it finished today, but school goes back and the day is filled with errands and professional development work, so we'll see!

What are you working on today? Today I'll be doing the final digital input on an Australian novel, "Isolate". I'm really happy with how far this book has come! The writing has a polaroid, hot-summer vibe (which fits perfectly). It's wistful, and sad, and pulls at the heartstrings.

I have finished so many books already this year! Paralysed by choice for what was next, I put it to a poll, and my Twitch companions chose number "2", which corresponded in the secret list to Quicksilver, by Callie Hart. I'm already at 45% and I only started it two days ago!

There’s something down there… in the deep… Currently, I'm working on the proofs for Dark Tides, Book 2 of the Dark Worlds Saga by JS Harman. This book is fantastic, and I cannot wait to see it out in the world!

I want to get more reading done this year, and I've also decided to extend my professional development, which includes rereading a lot of non-fic books, and also newer ones! I'm trying to balance it out, and so far I am having a blast. Do you have a goal this year? What are you enjoying right now?

This week I'm working on Dark Tides, book 2 of the Dark Worlds Saga. Book 1, Dark Sands, is out now, and I highly recommend it if you like accessible sci fi with a story that will have you thinking, and wary, for a long time to come! I am *loving* this second instalment!

Today I'm doing something I don't normally do (by choice). I'm working on a book that's currently in development. It's in the drafting stage, and I am SO EXCITED to be working on this with Alex. I've read every book ever by Alex, and I love the stories SO much. It is a privilege!

My weekend started off with the Fabled Magazine launch in the city, then I got to my Mum's at 2.30am. 2.5 hours sleep and it was up and off to the market to sell Mum's creations! Directly after that was my beautiful sister's wedding up at a winery in Coldstream. It was exhausting! But wonderful.

Happy Halloween! How cool is this display! Went trick or treating with the boys. I take the candy with me to give out, because we live in a tucked-away street, and I love seeing all the kids' smiles!

Today, after a bunch of appointments and Monday admin, I'll be working on 'Bears & Bakeries: Pie Holes' by Dylan Drakes, a novella that accompanies 'Bears & Bakeries', a story of two chonky men who fall for each other and baste each other's pies. Among other things. ;)

I was up for 22+ hours yesterday, but I ended my night with a heap of writing (reoutlining a story to turn it from a novella to a full novel, apparently). It got me thinking what programs people use to write their stories. I use 4theWords (RPG for writers), and Scrivener. What do you use?

Cleaned my office and finally sorted (one of) my bookshelf(s)! Stuck up the fairy lights, too, but didn't have as many as I wanted (still looks pretty though!). Really pleased with it!

I read through the prologue of one of my WIPs today and it made me cry a bit. That's a good thing, right? So sad and heartbreaking, I hope it hits readers just as hard.

Going to work on my WIP today, and an edit, and I have to remove 4-y-o blutac from my fairylights. It's all gunky. But I am cheap and do not want to buy new ones. So goop here I come!

Have a day off today. It's school holidays, so the house is a mess, and I want to spend some time with the kids, too. I promised I'd take them to the skate park in town for the first time, so even though it's raining, we're going (it's undercover anyway!).

Streamed twice today, got my 50 pages proofed, next up I get to do chores. Yippee. But there's a mess in the kitchen and the laundry needs doing! Productive day so far and feeling good for it.

Today I'm working on The Dark Retribution by C Smith! It's in its final round of editing (proofreading) and it's come so far. It's beautiful to see and I love working with this author in such a collaborative way!

Went to a party yesterday and had a lot of fun. It's the first time since we had our smallest that we were able to just let him play, knowing he would not get into anything he shouldn't. It was so nice to hang out with friends and their families, to meet some new people, and just have a great time.

Ok, I have organized all my WIPs and shorts into one Scrivener project (except the full-length novels, which have their own project files). Given that it's nearly 2am, I should probably go to bed, right? Right. *shuffles off*

Not me procrastinating on working on my own stuff by sitting on socials. What I *should* be doing is the deep clean event run by @ekearlewrites.bsky.social and taking inventory of what projects I have going.

Today I'll be finalising a proofread, then working on The Veil Between by @emilypaul_writes which is in the paper-run stage of proofing. I also have to go find and then buy gumboots for the middle kiddo, because he has a massive Scout camp this weekend. Did I mention it's also school holidays?
