Yesterday's challenge on the Saultoons Discord was "moonlight". Looks like my reflection is a little off. I probably should have added something on the horizon line to better separate sky from water. Every mistake is a learning opportunity. I still like how it turned out. #pixelart

The penultimate prompt for #Septembit 2024 required combining two previous monsters. I chose to combine my "Plant" pepper with "Ghost" to get...well, a ghost pepper obviously! The flame perspective is a little off, but overall I'm happy with it. #pixelart

For the last three days of #Septembit 2024, the canvas size increased from 32 to 96 pixels square. The first of these prompts was to evolve a previous monster. Remember my poison apple monster? It grew up! #pixelart

This was the last of the smaller canvas prompts. I kind of think this one is a thematic fail. It looks more like television static than anything "abstract". I just didn't have any other ideas. #pixelart #septembit

Day 26's prompt presented me with a bit of a conundrum. Most of my monsters were already "objects", so what to do? Fortunately, my day job brings the endless pain of tolerating JavaScript. Behold, the most terrifying object of all! #pixelart #septembit

I had quite a difficult time getting my ramen monster to work out, but I never wanted to do anything else. I guess it kind of looks less like the ramen is threatening you and more like it's...crocheting at you? Oh well, lol. #pixelart #septembit

The "hobby" prompt stumped me. I struggled to come up with an idea for day 24 more than I did actually designing it once the idea came. I had some difficulty getting the layout of the analog sticks right, but overall I think it works. #pixelart #septembit

Back in my day, sonny, we'd grab our favorite cassette tape and pop it into a "Boombox" to jam. Actually, I recently found out boomboxes that look like this still exist, they just take digital media now. I had fun with this one. #pixelart #septembit #90s

The "Light" prompt monster was another one that just kind of happened as I was painting. A candle became the monster early on in the process before I eventually gave it a power. I guess this one is a light-magic-wielding candle? #pixelart #septembit

This is another one I knew where I would go with it from the beginning, and another one where I don't love the final product. It's fine, but I think I could have done better if I hadn't needed to move on. #pixelart #septembit

I have a confession. It wasn't until this prompt that I realized this whole challenge was a sort of Pokemon thing. I kept the concept simple for this one. Inside the crystal ball? Upcoming monsters! #pixelart #septembit

I struggled a lot with the "ghost" prompt. I had no ideas going into it. This was a case of sitting down at the computer and just letting something happen. It's supposed to be a figure coming out of a mirror. Does it work? #pixelart #septembit

I had this idea for day 18 from the beginning. It took a bit of trial and error, but I'm incredibly happy with the result. This is the one that made me realize most of my monsters have a bit of an "Earthbound" vibe. It's my favorite. #pixelart #septembit

The lava lamp monster idea came to me fairly early. That said, I did try to do an actual lava monster. It didn't work out, and ultimately I just had to try this. It may be quite the stretch for the prompt, but I really like this one. #pixelart #septembit

For "ice", I originally tried to do an abominable snowman. I didn't like it. Then Saultoons told us all to be creative with our interpretations of the prompts. Thus, my ice cream cone snake monster was born. It's one of my favorites. #pixelart #septembit

Look, I don't know, okay? Over on Lospec, the June 10th prompt is "Knight" and the palette is "Heart4". I had the best of intentions with this heart themed Shovel Knight character, but I don't know what's going on here, lol. #pixelart #shovelknight

Over on the Saultoons Discord, the prompt a couple days ago was "campfire" and featured the "beach bash" palette from Lospec. If I tried a second attempt at this, I might make the logs mostly dark with only a few highlights. #pixelart

Obviously, this isn't an original concept, but I think my pixel art take on a poison apple turned out well. The required green colors and my chosen warm colors almost look like they were all chosen specifically for this prompt. #pixelart #septembit

Bugs creep me out. All of them. I don't know what this is. Is it a spider? A beetle? Whatever it is, it has sharp pincers and a skull on its back. Is it a real skull, or just a pattern? You decide. #pixelart #septembit

For the "Plant" prompt, I originally tried draw a menacing flower monster. But then I thought, what am I doing? I love hot peppers! Of course that has to be my plant monster! #pixelart #septembit

Day 9 was my first theme deviation. All monsters were objects up to now (which would become an issue a bit later.) Instead, my brain went straight to Tremors (or Dune?) This ended up being another of my favorites. #pixelart #septembit

Day 8 was a lot better. I didn't get the idea until I sat down to work on it, but once I started, everything fell into place. The beard was actually a happy accident, and soon after I drew that, I leaned into a "wise old sage" motif. #pixelart #septembit

Well, here it is, the first one I don't really like. This one actually put me a couple days behind. While I still like the concept of a paper airplane monster, I wasn't happy with the final result. But I really needed to move on. #pixelart #septembit

I knew from the beginning what I wanted to do for the Electric prompt. Look, I'm a sucker for wrapping something around another thing. I love the way it looks. A utility pole with snaking electricity was always going to happen. #pixelart #septembit

I struggled with day five. Leading up to it I had no ideas for metal. Then, after the dizzy globe of day four, I just decided to lean into silliness again. That's how I ended up with Rambo Spoon. What do you suppose Fork is thinking? #pixelart #septembit

Day 4 was a wild ride. I originally planned to do a rock monster of some sort, but just could not get one to look good. Suddenly, this silly idea of a dizzy globe popped into my head. It ended up being one of my favorite entries. #pixelart #septembit

I don't have my notes from 9 months ago, but I think my original idea for the "Air" prompt was a floor or ceiling fan. I do remember trying that and not liking it. I ended up with...a menacing windmill, I guess? #pixelart #septembit

The idea of a fire hydrant monster came to me pretty quickly. At first, it was just going to be a mean looking hydrant, but then "water scythe" popped into my head. I'm not thrilled with the top part of hydrant, but overall I like this one. #pixelart

Every now and then I think about that special short episode of Doctor Who from a decade ago in which Paul McGann came back and reminded us all of how brilliant he was as the Doctor and how we were all absolutely robbed of a proper series of adventures with him in the role.

My first post on here was of my Septembit 2024 full entry. But let's look at each day individually. For the first prompt, I knew immediately I wanted to draw a lantern flame picking itself up and walking away. I'm not sure I got the "lantern" part right, but I was happy with my flame. #pixelart

For years, I've thought Gmail sorted all mail into one of the default folders. Nope. Some mail isn't even visible from the default "Inbox" view seen on desktop. You have to go to "All Mail", which on desktop is hidden in a dropdown menu. I missed my Switch 2 invite because of this.

"Cybertruck owner says kids laughed at his truck after it was towed." See, that's interesting to me because I laugh at it before. "The ten-year-old kids initially thought it was the coolest vehicle." I feel like this statement alone speaks volumes.

Some time ago I ended up scoring in the top 1% of players on one map in Mini Motorways. I must have decided to take that victory and run knowing that it was pure luck because I promise you I absolutely suck at this game right now. #indiegames

If you put the Harry Potter series in a list of books with the "most interesting magic systems" you are not a serious person.

"Reload" for the Persona 3 remake made sense, given the form the Evokers take. People keep calling the rumored Persona 4 remake "Reload" as well. But come on, the motif in that game is televisions. "Persona 4 Rerun" seems like the obvious title (even though I don't really like it). #Persona
