Today’s feminist Hollywood #horror is the first film in Ti West’s brilliant X Trilogy. This first movie is a banger. It’s got a grungy 70’s proto-slasher vibe, with gruesome kills and a soupçon of sexy. Mia Goth’s performance is subdued. Soft and confident, like Maxine has nothing to prove.

Today’s feminist Hollywood #horror is Neon Demon. Elle Fanning plays a young aspiring model. More than that, she plays something for adults to prey upon. She plays a meal. She plays something to envy and destroy. The movie is exceptional social commentary.

With the Oscars fast approaching, this week’s feminist #horror movies are all about fame. If you liked The Substance, you’re going to love Starry Eyes. It’s got weird body horror, a satanic cult, and an absolutely all-star performance from Alex Essoe. It’s streaming free on Tubi, seek it out.

Today’s #horror is XX. This anthology is all stories by women. The shorts include themes of powerlessness & isolation, the mania of parenthood, and paranoia about the evils of the world. Some hit, some miss, but you won’t regret watching it.

If I were in charge of reality TV I would make a show like The Bachelor or Love Is Blind but at the end of the season they HAVE TO get married. No waiting. It’s all ready. Season finale wedding. And if you do it you get like $10K. Which isn’t nothing. But also isn’t bad decision money.

Tonight’s feminist #horror is perhaps the greatest: Alien. Consider that you’re a woman forced to carry to term an infant you don’t want. It writhes under your skin and erupts violently from your abdomen. Alien forces a male audience to consider such a violation.

Everyone looks so cool in the Fifth Element because it was all designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Marcello Hernandez seems like a genuinely good person. I bet all the people who know him love him.

Tonight’s daily #horror is Barbarian. In retrospect, this film is plagued by some of the same aimlessness as Weapons. But here the themes are locked in more clearly. The tension is more deliberate and patient. The danger has time to reveal itself. And the casting is nothing short of brilliant.

Hair Metal from the 80’s is more than a little punkish from a fuck-authority perspective. Iron Maiden singing about “The Number Of The Beast” right in the middle of the Satanic Panic. That’s badass. Imagine an angry teenage kid blasting that through the walls at their conservative parents.

Tonight’s best #horror is Lucky. A writer is trapped in a time-loop cycle of abuse by faceless men. It’s scary, thoughtful, and occasionally very funny. Great fucking movie. This is the movie Men wanted so badly to be. Brea Grant made a masterpiece.

Okay, tonight’s #horror movie is House of the Devil. This throwback thriller by Ti West (and a bit part for Greta Gerwig) is a devilishly tense horror that takes place during a Lunar Eclipse (which happens to be tonight). Check it out! Summon the devil with me!

I missed posting about the daily #horror movie for like a week because I was away for work. But March is Women’s History Month so I’m going to spend the rest of this month recommending feminist horror!!

Tonight’s #horror movie is The Purge. I know that pop culture sorta ran away with this concept, and the action-forward sequels didn’t help. But his first movie is brilliant political commentary about race and class. Quick tip. If Ethan Hawk is in it, it’s got something to say.

Tonight’s #horror is Tales From The Hood. This black-centered anthology tackles institutional racism, police corruption, & gang violence all without a shred of superficiality. This movie is fun & scary. And Clarence Williams III has one of the BEST versions of Satan ever captured on film.

Tonight’s #horror movie was going to be Bones with Snoop Dogg, but I had the chance to sit down with my son and watch The Warriors instead. He loved it, he kept asking “Did they really do that?” He so used to special effects, watching people just pummel each other & blow shit up is still new to him.

It’s called “The Bone Temple” because of how many penises are in this movie.

Tonight’s #horror is Sinners. One thing I frequently hear discussed is how vampirism is used to explore themes of cultural appropriation. A white devil steals the bodies and minds of the black community in pursuit of controlling art and culture he had no hand in creating. It’s very well done.

There’s no “male loneliness epidemic” for men who love and respect women.

In The Mouth of Madness by John Carpenter is perfect. Every frame building towards insanity.

Tonight’s #horror movie may not get traction with everyone, and understandably so. But tonight I’m watching Antebellum. What I like about this movie is that it has a clever narrative structure that makes you question what you’re watching, and when it’s finally revealed, it’s utterly horrifying.

It’s Marci Gras so tonight’s perfect #horror movie is Hatchet. This low budget slasher is more like a monster movie. Victor Crowley is a horrifying inhuman killing machine, apparently cursed with an unstoppable lust for graphic bloody flesh-rending murder. These movies are bad in the BEST WAY.

I’m getting a late start, but today’s perfect #horror movie is Candyman 2: Farewell To The Flesh. I mean, I’m not sure it’s EVER the right time to watch this? But if ever there were one it’s the week of Mardi Gras.

Today’s perfect #horror movie is Heart Eyes. This movie is the perfect marriage of romantic comedy and horror. It’s bloody as hell. It’s silly and cheesy. And you will never have more fun watching people fall in love while they run for their lives. Happy Valentines Day!

It’s Friday the 13th!!!! So if you’re not watching Part 6 for your daily #horror what are you even doing? It’s easily my favorite. Jason in full undead glory for the first time. Lumbering, bloody kills, panicking teens, stupid cops. It’s glorious.

The best #horror movie to watch tonight is Pontypool. This Valentine’s Day kinda-zombie movie is terrifying because of what you DON’T see. It’s claustrophobic, tense, and ramps up in unexpected ways. Y’know how you never see Jaws and that’s better? This is the zombie version of that.

Tonight’s #horror movie is fucking BLADE. Wesley Snipes is bad ass and rock hard. Everything cool about this got stolen by the Matrix. Nothing makes sense but everything is cool and sexy and gross and bloody. That scene with the tubby vampire? *chef’s kiss*

Today’s ideal #horror watch is His House. I don’t usually put much stock in Rotten Tomatoes scores, but this movie more than earns its 100%. It starts slow, but it grows into one of the most terrifying and haunting films I’ve ever seen. It has a dreamlike nightmare quality and a wretched ending.

Today is National Pizza Day, therefore the best #horror movie to watch is Slice. It’s a weird, surreal little A24 movie with a strange lore that never takes the times to make a lick of sense. But it’s got Zazie Beetz, Joe Keery, Paul Scheer & Chance the Rapper, so seek it out!

A great #horror movie to watch tonight is Was Craven’s The People Under The Stairs. This movie has rewarded me at every stage of my life. I was too young and suburban to understand the themes when I was Fool’s age. But I get them now and let me tell you, this movie has a timeless brilliance.

I hate the corner of left wing social media where they treat every fight like a victory. “Protestors showed up to the capital!!” Okay but did the shitty law still get passed? If it did we lost that fight. Don’t act like it’s a win, just tell me what happened. I don’t need sprinkles on my bullshit.

Tonight’s #horror movie is Get Out. This movie changed American culture forever. It’s not just a great movie, it re-wired people’s brains. It stitched a new seam. It’s one of those films that you can’t watch too often because you NEVER want to get sick of it. It should always be fresh.

Jason Momoa & Dave Bautista’s The Wrecking Crew was fantastic fun. And it had as much violence as Terrifier 3 soooo I really enjoyed it.

Both Spawn and the Maxx got cool animated shows in the 90’s. We never got a Pitt though and that’s the one we all really wanted. He was like if Wolverine fucked the Hulk and they had a baby they didn’t love. Sorry, gotta be at least 45 to get this. I don’t make the rules I made up.

Why would I save my money? My money is worth more today than it will be tomorrow when you account for inflation.

The best #horror movie to watch tonight is fucking BLACULA!! If Sinners is about cultural appropriation, this is kinda the opposite. Blacula is black Dracula, with all the romantic story beats you’d want from a Dracula story. But it’s fabulously draped in 70’s black culture. Impossible not to love.

Tonight’s #horror movie is Alice. Keke Palmer and Common star in this dour revenge thriller. It starts ugly and ends with one staggering gut punch after another. It’s got some blaxploitation swagger, and it’s clearly a movie the filmmakers crafted with care, but this might not be for everyone.

Tonight’s #horror movie is Candyman. For my generation, this movie was a revelation. Not only did it introduce a cool new horror icon, but also it was grounded in the sad truth of bigotry and its lasting impact. Brilliant, haunting movie. To this day I’ve never said his name 3 times in a mirror.

One of the things I like about Captain Picard’s command style is that everyone trusts each other. Even when someone is talking crazy. Someone will be like, “You all froze in time for 5 seconds” and even though nobody else experienced it, they believe it. They’re like, “Okay, let’s investigate”

It’s Groundhog Day, and although there are PLENTY of #horror movies that fit today’s obvious theme, I’m going with Triangle. This movie takes you on a trip that weaves in and out of time and leaves you dangling over a pit into hell. It’s clever, intriguing, and maintains a grounded dread.

It’s Black History Month and a full moon, so tonight’s #horror movie is The Beast Must Die. One part Agatha Christie mystery, one part proto-Blade action horror, this werewolf movie delivers some fun performances from Calvin Lockhart and a VERY young Michael Gambon. This movie deserves a remake.

You know how I know ICE is an occupying terrorist force? Because the brave protestors of Minneapolis just got their own USO show with Rage Against The Machine & Bruce Springsteen. It’s a morale booster for our brave fighting troops. A reminder of what REALLY makes America great.

Tonight’s #horror is We Are Still Here. What seemed like a low-budget indie-horror at first blossomed into something totally unexpected. I thought this was going to be another exploration on grief or something, but instead what I got was one of the best damn ghost stories from the past few years.

Tonight’s #horror movie is Innocent Blood. Another cold-weather tale, this movie has the best representation of vampirism you’ll ever see. Plus the mob!! It’s scary, bloody, sexy, silly.

So random to have seen 3 horror movies in the last week with deaf characters. First Primate over the weekend, then Takeout on Tubi (fun little flick by the way) and then tonight Orphan. Maybe I’ll watch A Quiet Place tomorrow. Oh my gosh and then Hush! Fuck anything else?

Tonight’s #horror movie is The Orphan. This movie creeps me right the fuck out. It’s so weird and twisted, with transgressive story beats designed to make you squirm with impatience for it to be over. And man, if that’s not great horror I don’t know what is.

The Howling werewolf transformation scene is better than the one from American Werewolf in London.

The opposite of Christianity isn’t Satanism. The opposite of Christianity is horror movies. Because horror movies are for people who like to be scared. And Christianity is for people who don’t.
