After five days without running water the problem isn’t fixed but I can use it in most of the house and my basement is finally dry and that’s not nothing!

Today we have the smallest amount of water yet. We’re still going to be dealing with this for a time yet. the sump pumps have been doing their thing and we clean a little more every time they clear the water.

If the wood from the ice storm were dry enough to burn right now the volume of water I’m pumping from my basement this week could put out the wood fires I need to burn before too long. I’m going to need to mow soon. 🤣

Yesterday afternoon my basement was empty of water! Yay! This morning there’s another foot down there. There’s just nowhere for the water to go. Greatest wife ever is on pump and dump duty today. No clue how we handle this the rest of the week.

Mommy and baby are doing their thing and our basement is nearly water free - but with massive storms on the horizon it’s a temporary reprieve until that soil thaws! Cleaned as much of the now garbage as I could now so there’s less to do at the end of the week when the rains finally let up.

Our little sump pump family grew. I’m now pumping out 3,000 gallons an hour between two devices. Mom and baby are doing fine. Casseroles welcomed. #Blessed

Tomorrow I welcome 300 social studies teachers to Traverse City for our annual conference. Carl Azuz and Rachel Scott headline with over 60 themed sessions on evidence, sources and media literacy. I never get tired of putting this event on.

2 years ago on April 21st I completed a year long journey to prepare my body to give 2/3rds of my liver to my cousin. This was us before the surgery. While I’ll still be politiposting, April is #DonateLife month and I’m going to share our story here.
