Show trivia: in the Chester mystery plays, Lucifer sitting on God's throne is in the text. That isn't in York's play, & we felt it was important that no one but God sits on the throne. Show trivia: the original script says that God creates "9 orders of angels". We originally planned to have 9 different angels, including angel puppets! But we ended up liking our human angels- it just didn't make sense to add angels who wouldn't directly contribute to the drama. #yorkmysteryplays

This photo was a happy accident: the moment Lucifer gets dragged to hell is also the moment he sees that God has seen him. For just a split second, Lucifer knows what he's done- he'll deny it to everyone in the next few moments, but we see that he actually knows. #yorkmysteryplays #medievaldrama

The majestic #yorkminster dwarfs our waggons as we pass by, but it's an awesome moment when we remember that our plays' ancestors also passed this way six hundred years ago. The #yorkmysteryplays have an ability to speak across the centuries in an extraordinary way that's very moving. #medievaldrama

What happens to our puppets after the show? After all, they're pretty unique to this particular production! The answer is that their puppeteers got so attached to them, that our daemons went home with their "handlers". We're glad they all found loving homes! #yorkmysteryplays #medievaldrama

Show trivia: our large angel wings were on loan from York Theatre Royal, from their production of the #yorkmysteryplays in the 1990s! But they didn't have enough, so some of our angels have different wings. This worked well because we wanted them all to be individuals from different orders.

The York Waits played between performance stations, & we decided it would be nice to have them play along with our 1st song, for a nice transition between the parts. It's unusual to have them play along but we were incredibly happy with the results! #yorkmysteryplays #medievaldrama #medievalmusic

#mysteryplaysmonday on a Wednesday? Yes, saying goodbye to "The War in Heaven" has taken a few days, but our show's director is back with reflections. And congratulations to everyone involved in our production on an incredible series of performances! We couldn't have done it without you!

Show trivia: we originally planned for Lucifer's costume change to happen offstage, but fitting large-winged angels on the waggon caused a big rethink. One of the actors suggested Lucifer be visible during the transition, & thus was born Luci's onstage trauma as he loses his glitter and feathers.

Show trivia: we opend with the Lyke-Wake Dirge, a song that dates back to at least the 17th century. "Lyke" means "corpse". We added it to pair with a rendition that was originally meant to come in a later play of the #yorkmysteryplays this year, but they ended up not using it! We kept it anyway. 😉

One of the best moments of the #yorkmysteryplays is always walking by the Minster. It's a beautiful backdrop, & reminds you of the feet that would have trampled this path with a waggon in the Middle Ages: we follow literally in their footsteps as we put own our own chapter in history. #medievaldrama
