Some of the 14x #GreatSilverWaterBeetles recorded today as part of our #GreatFen #moth and water #beetle #monitoring. They were attracted to the light traps at 5 sites in the Fen. Now they are all headed back to where they were caught.

February's #SpeciesoftheMonth is the short-eared owl (Asio flammeus)! A daytime flier, the short-eared owl is similar in size to the barn owl and can be spotted on wetland marshes & grassland. In East Anglia short-eared owls are a winter spectacular visiting from Scandinavia, Russia & Iceland.
