While developing my Italian 70s thriller... started working on something a little more 'popcorn'. Space adventure featuring a space pilot that is a blend of Barbarella and Jack Burton. The first chapter was a tonne of fun to write. Contemplating releasing the chapters as I write them, on substack.

It’s a nice day to head to my fav cafe to read and do some writing. Bonus, the cafe is next to the library.

Bit the bullet and got a Sigma 35 1.4 Art EF mount for my R5. I do have the 35 1.8 RF—great lens for the size and price. But paired with the Sigma 50 1.4, the RF 35, is lacking. Hopefully I won't be let down by the 35's auto focus. But I hear with miriness, these old EF art lens work flawlessly.

I drink double shot expresso's—black. Have had three today. Very likely have a single shot right after dinner. Seven coffees a day. There's gotta be some research out there, that will tell me all is fine... keep drinking.

Out of all the genres I’ve written. Horror is by far the hardest. You really need to feel what’s going on. It’s not about getting into the head of a killer. Its creating that tension and atmosphere of dread, and then being able to pay it off.

Fuck it. I’ll write a short story. Already got another idea, perfect for a short horror. I’ll see-ya all in a week when I finish it. I do need to rewatch Event Horizon.

Itching to write a cosmic horror, and already have the seeds of an idea growing. Will grab a fresh notebook and start throwing down thoughts. All the while resist actually starting to write it…CAUSE I’M ALREADY WRITING ANOTHER STORY AND I NEED TO FINISH THIS ONE. What are your fav cosmic horrors?

Canon EF 85 1.2 (shot at 1.2 with the R5) on the left. The Sigma EF 50 1.4 (shot at 1.4 with the R6ii) on the right. I have shot with the 85 for as long as I remember. And even though the 50 can be more versatile, my photography brain and eye is stuck on the look of the 85. (reposted)
