I made this piece in 2005, and sadly it's just as relevant now. The only difference is that I made this while living in Montana, and felt welcome to speak my mind then as an artist and as a foreigner. Now I wouldn't dream of going back there, and I'm sure I wouldn't be allowed even if I wanted to.

I really do love my RDF glaze, even though it's quite finicky. One of it's annoying features is that it doesn't look as good on horizontal surfaces as it does on vertical ones. The glaze needs to run, just a little, for best results. #pottery #ceramics #canadianceramics #glaze

Back in 2019 I started a project where I placed vessels in the harbour near my home to see what would happen to them over time. Would ocean life inhabit them? Would they be destroyed or go missing? Once or twice a year I go back to check on them, and to document how they change.
