Controversial take alert: the idea that engaging and 'playing' with genAI, but in a scholarly way, will help turn the tide towards ethical use, comes across as both arrogant and naïve. You are still feeding an unregulated, energy-hungry beast. If you have a choice, be critical, but not complicit.
