Route finished! Or at least I think it is. Now I have to go back and triple-check that all the strats are contiguous with each other. Don't want to be 5hrs into this 6.5hr route and everything falls apart because items/djinn are on the wrong people (or god forbid I can't afford the Dream Leaf...)

Figured out Burning Island until Chaos Hound. Now to deal with the OMEGACHONK djinn menu for final bosses (and beyond). No Lull detour means Chimera is no longer free though...

Dark Dawn 100% rerouting! Hope is for 6:2X. Did a rough first draft to Chaos bosses, now I’m improving consistency. Second draft’s at Burning Island 1, ~4 hours into the run. Bit tricky here because of Flare/DeathWarp -> Coral/DW -> Gears -> Geyser/DW -> Doldrum with very few djinn recoveries... 🤔

We might finally have Ice Queen and Talon Peak skip! But it requires three corner clips and an absurdly precise offscreen clip to pull off and early Sveta (because no magma shards). So probably only saves like 1 minute, 2 tops.

Streams will be very sparse if any for the next month, since I'm not going to have many 4-hour uninterrupted blocks of time in which to do runs.

That is the THIRD WR pace speedrun I've lost in the last fortnight to Fusion Dragon. Would've been a low 3:18, but the game thought that was TOO SPOOKY.

Just qualified for Affiliate on Twitch, whatever that means. Have no idea what to do with that; help?

I'm honestly kinda surprised at how nice the streaming experience has been so far. Even though it's just been raw gameplay, no mic, no cam, etc., and get maybe two or three chat comments per hour. I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I currently am. Cozy/comfy. :)

Had the whole weekend set aside to do some TBS runs. And then 3am this morning I have a bout of atrial fibrillation (dangerous heart arrhythmia) so now I need to be constantly monitored for a couple of days. Boo. :(

Ollie's on a different level when it comes to TBS runs. I've been studying his runs (thinking about running TBS myself), and he just makes so few mistakes.

The run of my life, and I wipe twice to Chimera, one of which was due to a DOUBLE Retribution proc. Legit the only reason I'm not an inconsolable mess is that I wouldn't have won either fight with the old strats anyways. But I'm properly upset by this. It's a proverbial sledgehammer to the nuts.

I need a break from glitch hunting. Had a dream where I was in an open world version of Konpa Ruins and found a way to skip the dungeon by going from the entrance straight to the exit. And then realised it was useless because we still need the Grip Crystal, and was so frustrated I woke myself up.

Homemade chicken schnitzels! Hadn’t done them for months, and they were a perfect end to a busy day. Best part is; plenty of leftovers for the rest of the week!

Might try some more Dark Dawn runs soon. Got enough new tech under my belt to be able to challenge WR even if I don’t get all the luck I want. Goma Heist should offset WR’s insane early game, and the new Zol Clip and Apollo Venus give something to look forward to in the face of WR’s godly endgame.

I swear I’m not sitting on a hoard of speedrun tech and just drip-feeding it to the community whenever a new WR is set. I’m genuinely finding them out of the blue, often when I’m auditing the new WR to see where it can be improved, or just bumming around looking for theoretical interactions.

What a run. Holy shit. An utterly monstrous final 80 minutes, after Talon Peak and Blados/Chalis had wiped out the -1m44s lead I had after Sludge. Golded 9 of the last 11 splits.

Some good signs with my latest attempt. Was -1:33 at Sludge, then +0:23 at Blados/Chalis (got RUINED by Talon Peak), back to =0:00 at Himi. I softlocked on the way to Burning Island, but I'm not unhappy. This run showed me that 3:44 might not be my limit in this category.

Can feasibly save another 3min over the 3:47:12 run; - 90s on bridge clips (Ayuthay, Furrow) - 90s on encounter BS (Tanglewood, Warrior's Hill, Gaia Falls) I could get a 3:44 with just 75% of that available timesave. Might grind for it in 2025, if I'm not too busy with life and/or glitch hunting.

A solid improvement. And there's a free minute of timesave if I don't die prematurely in Gaia Falls next time.

In GSSC, there exists a jank deity who trades WRs for tokens, which can be redeemed for new speedrun techs. Dark Dawn is proof of their existence. A new WR, and then within 36 hours a new timesave. I am not this deity (this “wise one”), though I may or may not be the person who redeems the tokens.

Did my homemade burrito bowls for dinner tonight. Slow-cooked beef brisket, broccoli, onions, zucchini, and peppers, with rice. Always a winner.

It's a good run, and a good time, but good doesn't cut it for me at this level. I know I can do a lot better than this. It's a good start, more than anything.

Volt White is kicking my ass. 20 runs in the last week, of which I lost 14 to Cress, 2 to Cheren2, 2 to Vulpix refusing to get caught, and 1 to critting my Fly user. ONE run has made it to Nacrene City, and it died to Cheren4 reading my mind like he's Professor X. I can't with this game man...

Worked out the "Plasma 5 Skip" for Volt White to save ~4min. Can also save ~45sec in Victory Road with it. Redid the early game manips to save ~20sec (Pidgey > Starly). Overhauled Striaton to 1v6 Cress and save ~90sec. Route is more volatile, but could push low 3:5X. Not quite at 3:4X level... yet.

A whole 4-hour session of speedrunning Drayano's Pokemon Volt White romhack (Gen 5), and not once in six attempts did I make it past Cress, the first gym leader. My new route can save about 8 minutes over my 4:00:42 PB, but this blueberry boy is putting the unova in sunovabitch.
